hi all,
i was wondering if there is a company that makes a loom which incorperates the k series mpi engine loom into a standard mini loom ? as i would like to keep an original mini loom for the lights etc, but obviously need a k series injection one for the engine,
as i dont have either yet i was wondering if you can get one ready made up ?
hope this makes sense
Cheers Dave :D :D

As far as I am aware nobody sells this, but it is apparently not so hard to do yourself as the wire colours are similar.
I'm sure someone will come forward to explain further. PicKup, GTMKoupe, ???

As Grayham said, its not that difficult especially if you have the early mpi engine loom from a metro GTI (no immobiliser problems). The metro ecu relay box is nice and neat compared to the 214 which is huge and includes a fuse box.
Basically the metro loom has a multiplug connector mounted somewhere near the bulkhead which needs splicing into the mini loom to make it run and supply signals to the warning lights, temp gauge and tacho. The wiring colour codes are basically the same as the mini and the latest metro Haynes has the GTI wiring diagram included (my early one didn't)
When you get ready to wire up drop me a line and I will help if possible.
If you want a real challange try wiring up a 2003 engine - its been a nightmare but it now runs :D but have to take a fuse out to stop it :? Todays job.

Agreed, wiring looms dont wear out - they just get mucky. I have just checked the price of a Rover engine loom - £80 + vat & thats only an SPI and 2003 price (an out of date EPC). I have bought a compete GTI engine complete with loom and ECU for less than that!!
Got our engine to stop on the key today, a diode in the ign warning light circuit sorted it.
