Poll: Alternator belt size

Hi there, just interested in what actual size belts people are using, my motor manufacturer only has 698mm or 685mm, too big and too small!

My belt is 675 but then I'm not using a watson bracket so dont surpose it helps :D

Yeah that sounds way too small, the problem with the watson bracket is the adjustment of it is very limited (already had to take the angle grindr to it!), although saying that a 685 seems to go on OK at the moment and have a good amount of flex, but now on my fifth belt so I thought that maybe a really small belt was weaker, but if you're using a 675 then obviously not!! Getting there! s l o w l e y :)

I tried to get a smaller belt on last week. mainly to stop the alternator from hitting the front valance and vibrating. I went down to 650 which was teh next size down. Unfortunatly getting it on i snapped it. DOH.

So went for a new 675 and all seems OK again, Now have a spare in my boot if anything happens.

Yeh - minie is a 685. Been driving for the last 4 days and two bolts have rattled free from the alternator and have had one belt frey and snap. I have retightened with loctite and the belt now seems to be fine.
