Hi All,
Strange seeing my Mini over 260 miles away instead of in front of my house.
Can't wait to see the build progress, although I will cringe lots when I see my Mini of 10 years cut into 2.
It's all for the best, otherwise it would have continued rusting a slow, painful death.
Can't wait to join the 16V posse! :D
Thanks to Matt for his skill, space & time (paid of course!) - I never would get time to do this.

Welcome to the forums - just aswell no one said anything nasty  Dont blame you for getting someone else to do it - its just what I should've done in hindsight !!!!
Dont think there's many people on here with more hybrid mini building experience than Matt, and probably even less that work as quick ! :)

ok manifold wont fit without bulk head mods , or modding the inlet .. so i am going the modding the inlet route .

got the front end roughly on :
http://www.v6mini.com/images/mackers/PA050055.JPG
http://www.v6mini.com/images/mackers/Pa050054.JPG

i have gone flip front as the front was rusty as hell , and it just helps with access etc.

started playing with the gearlinkage , use to vauxhalls being all inside .. dont have much room for a 2 1/2 exhaust pipe under there when you have the linkage there as well.

did lots of other small bits , no photos .. my manifold idea will be completed by monday ..if i am not happy with it i will go another route... keep changing my mind.

mocked up a rad in cardboard :) lol..

did not even bother trying to cut up the standard type-R exhaust manifold , bought a S.Alexander one instead .. just have to wait for it to arrive no and see if it fits :?

dont seem to have room for a servo at the moment , as it hits the dizzy ! lol

thats it for today ..sorry it was not much .. these vtec's take ages to build :)

stripped old subframe of suspension hubs etc ,allready for refurb and a lick of paint. waiting for the alloy 4 pots/groved disks to turn up.

found more rust on the shell . rover really did not do much rust proofing in the 90's did they.

lots of little bits.

moddified inlet , will cost about 175 pounds if you want this done. Allthough have to say its not proven yet so make your own mind up.
Once its down it will go on the rollers and get wide band checked :)

lots of other bits done , but only borring rust prevention
exhaust manifold should be here soon. Now the inlet is down it might be time to try and figure out the wiring loom to start it !

It fits in a standard round nose. This looks like a salexander manifold from the looks of it, as jimfai mentioned and runs fairly close to the block as a result.

The normal manifolds I have seen would not fit, as they extend from the block to far. Doesnt need to be 2 piece as with a standard round nose, you really need a removeable front end cross member and front end.

Jimfai, a member has this on a B18(smith1380gt) if I remember right and I think that has the same height block as a B20 (not sure if they use the same sump, B18c5 is different to a B16, but dont know much about a B20 sump)

EDIT .. Does the clutch slave cylinder all fit okay Matt? if you are making up something thinner or alike I may be interested in some kind of purchase.

ok sorry for the lack of updates , have been spending most of the last month getting rid of rust ! , which i cant be bothered to tell you lot about as thats the borring bit anyway.

ok so what i have done ... first off i have moved the servo accross as the customers wants a servo , and we are running std ecu/dizzy and the dizzy gets in the way. I could have gone for a remote servo etc but was more happy keeping with std master/servo setup as you know it works.

the all new 16v mini shop 2 1/2 inch back box is in :
http://www.16vminishop.co.uk/album/2%20and%20half%20inch%20system/slides/PB240248.JPG
fits to std mini mounts ,will not be cheap .. but is VERY shiny.
not happy with the jetex silencer :
http://www.16vminishop.co.uk/album/mackers/slides/PB240257.JPG
as it is a little to big for me to be happy with ground clearence, as this is a system that will be fitted to other cars.

hope you enjoy .. might be off to the paint shop in a few weeks :)

Definatley!

I see you have had to trim the bonnet/wing gutter. We were able to just avoid that with ste's but that type r engine is a little taller isn't it? Also the engine must be in a slightly different position to the BC frame though cant be that much differenet cos as far as i can tell it just wouldn't fit if it were that far different to the BC frame.

So you got a different rad on its way then? Made to order?
