Welcome Martyn,

The right angled bracket goes from the back of the gearbox to the lower part of the bulkhead. I think ColinAB's gallery has some pictures of this part.

What are you plans, have you got a watson frame now?

yup..

got fed up of waiting for AMT (i was the original phone call to andy all those years ago... cut up my car and waited, and waited..... and waited!!!),
phoned P&L last week to find out that they have stopped the Vtec stuff(no big loss tho IMHO as i t weighed a ton and was a copy of a wtason early subframe anyway) and didn't really like the idea of the SAE frame as it is more expensive and IMO doesn't seem to have had as much development as the Watson one.
So watson's it is...

Frame Arrived Friday after ordering tuesday and i have to say that although the frame is good, i am less than impressed with the state of the Metro suspension he sent :(

it is literally cut from the donor car. it's all rusted solid so god knows if the calipers are any good, and it even has the remains of the d/shafts still in the CV's whrere they were Oxy/acet cut off!!!

i'll try and get some pics up tomorrow if poss, but as i say... less than impressed for £1500

He gives you new dampners, but the suspension is litrally cut from the old car - calipers and all!! You could just buy the frame - not sure how much this would save you but mine looked OK. Just a matter of cleaning and replacing things yourself.

well...

yesterday i rolled up my sleeves and got stuck in.

every bloody bolt was seized on on the metro setup.

lucky we had a windy gun or they would have never come apart!!

so i stripped them down and lobbed them in the parts washer...

the bottom arms came out almost completely black (painted i mean), and the top arms were also still holding a fair remnant of the factory black, so not too shabby there!

then i noticed a word on the back of the (newish) brake pads... it said "Kevlar"...
i dug some of the muck off them to reveal a makers name... "EBC"!!!

RESULT!!

so now clean i will get some paint on asap.

for the frame, i've just placed the engine in it to see how it goes in. still need to get the mounting nuts and bolts to fit it in properly. anyone? surely someone has some left over... trouble for me is there arent many scrappies here in deepest SW cornwall, and even less who deal in decent salvage stuff. even then i never get chance to go to them if they do, so i rely on boards like this to get bits i need.

well thats the antics so far

i'll keep you posted

what bolts do you need? Is it just the bolts which go through the engine mount and secure to the frame or do you need the bolts which hold the engine mounts to the engine as well?

ive spent over £20 on nuts and bolts from honda
the problem with honda cars is :
they never break down

they dont rust like euro boxes

so there arent any in scrapyards to ripp bits off :?

oh and when you figure out what the two long bolts with the thick hexagonal washer thingys are for let me know :?
