Since my Integra engine is sort of the black sheep of the Honda family I have a small engine mount problem. I wanted to mount both timing side and tranny side in an E-W orientation(rubber bushing bolt).

Since talking to a Honda mechanic I have found out that Honda placed the timing side N-S and the tranny side E-W for a reason. If they are both the same direction the engine vibration could cause them to move side to side and tear themselves up. Their way keeps one side holding engine side to side and the tranny front to back and of course the rear mount helps with that as well as up/down.

There is the background. My question is would it matter if the mounts were reversed in orientaion on both sides? This would make my life and fabrication much simpler. I suspect most everyone here has used the oem mounts. I plan on using polyurethane bushings so there is not as much slop. JS

Can't see it would make a massive difference - you'd still be sticking to the same principal. Have you got any pics of the mounts - just curious as its one of the many area's I've not figured out yet - although MiniMivic''s transmission mount looks like it might be similar to what I need !

The ones I will be using are from here: http://www.jimfab.com/ Just look in the Motor Mount section. They look similar to these and variations thereof. JS
