im looking into buildin a suzuki powerd min using the suzuki swift gti engine ect im going to be using the mini 16 v shop subframe and driveshafts i just want to get straight a few issues before i start the build
1) im using an 1989 mini 1000 with the big pedal box mounted servo on the lhs of the engine bay. will this have to be moved due to clearance issues .
2)body modification ?? (will this be req)
3)gear linkages
4) fueling i will be retaining the suzuki injection system will i need to swap petrol tanks for a later injection item or will i have to use a seperate fuel pump
5)cluch cabeling will i have to incorparate some of thye suzuki pedal box?
6)wireing is it best to reain the mini loom an adapt it for the suzuki or adapt the suzuki loom for a mini??
7) cooling retain mini or use suzuki???
any help will be much appreciated as i think the suzuki engine is the best way to go cheers guys ...

Hi and welcome!
I suggest that you browse through the suzuki forum and watch the gallerys
that people have created. 90% of your questions is there…
Gearlinkage: Use suzuki, just shortened a bit
Engine will fit without body modifications if you retain standard manifold
Yea you can keep you servo, engine sits to the right
Loom wise you have to use engine part of suzuki loom if you retain suzuki ecu…leave your mini loom as it is. some clipping fore ignition and such
Hydralic to cable clutch do it yourself or buy from matt very clever i tell you
Cooling: suzuki electric fan and small radiator seems easyest and cheapest
Fueling: I don´t know im running carbs…

Sounds about right, G13B, except that the servo will be OK on your min because its LHD. If phil has aRHD car, then the servo will get in the way in the 'standard' position.
Stiill, welcome and good luck, Phil :)

He does say LHS but he could mean looking at it from the front.

Hi,
Welcome!
Fuel pump, you will need external one with injection Mini tank other waise you will need to modify a lot.
Injection Mini tank has return and all of the pipes you need but not high pressure enough.
Wiring wise, use Suzuki ones and cut and shut Mini rear light connection to it. This will be much better choice if you are keeping std ECU with injection, unlike me(R1 carbs)...
Clutch cable wise, if you use Mk2 gearbox, you can fit hydro setup from AWD saloon Swift(1.6 16v) and keep your master cylinder.
You can see this conversion in Teamswift and I have spare arm and slave cylinder.
Cooling wise, use Mini sports 2 core High performance radiator wise temperature controlled fan.
Performance ex-manifold don't need one.
Std cast iron one is very good design and many tuner could not get better result by any so call high performance manifold(which suites us better due to space). Just fit RC50 with custom made y-piece.
I've made one from mini LCB and flange for swift.
I hope above will help you!
Cheers

Thats what i want to do, but no breakers near me do anything japanese. :(
I think ill just have to make a new arm and use a mini slave cylinder.
Can you tell me the length of the arm and travel of the slave?

sd4ran,
Like I said I have spare one.
I don't need it, I got mk1 setup.
So, if you want it, give me an offer.
Cheers

So with a mk1 engine/gearbox is there no way of using hydro clutch? Does it have to be cable?

just buy the cable clutch mod we use for the c16se engines , use a vauxhall clutch cable , then just mod the end to mate up onto the clutch arm.

i plan on getting a RHD Clubman, will i need to modify the servos....???
also, a little confused about the wiring, i plan on doing stock injection for temperary, but later in time probably do R1 carbs, would i use the stock mini interior harness? or should i just go ahead and redo all the harnesses to suzuki??

CR, it depends on how long 'temporary' is, I'm going for a standard injection setup, then modding to carbs as and when time/funds allow (I'm just starting my own electricians business)
Personally, I would say do it right, now, as it will probably same you time later, you could just disconnect the injection wiring you don't need...

what do you think would work best???? i plan on going turbo, (can i still do itbs?? ) or should i just stick with the stock injection??? (maybe aftermarket,{if there is one made}) thanks!

If your planning turbo stick with stock injection and an aftermarket ECU. I think a mk1 manifold fits without bulkhead mods. The standard throttle body is supposed to be good for over 250 BHP. I think this way makes sense because you can still make big power without having to fab a custom manifold or buy itbs.
Hope my opinion helps
cheers

I've manged well over 200hp with the stock manifold but watch out for the MK1 injectors. I think you will need to upgrade them for that sort of power.

Yeah the injectors are wack. I got some toyota supra 440cc, off ebay, about £30. You need to make sure that they are the correct top entry injectors. A new fuel rail will be needed and an adjustable regulator.
Have you seen the turbo kit that you want, I'm looking at the moment.
I have got myself a set of injectors (Supra) and a TD04 turbo (scooby). I was gonna order up a megasquirt ECU but im having second thoughts. Hopefully i will be on the road this summer with the stock injection and mapable ECU.
