I got the first piece of my puzzle today, and I'm rather excited about it so I thought I'd start my own build thread.
I just got my very own 16v Swift head! But it is not the TwinCam. Yeah, the TwinCam is mighty pretty, but it seem that the SOHC 16v head from the late model Chevrolet Metros(Chevy's rebadged version of the Swift) is a better fit for the mini. I suppose we'll see, but it isn't nearly as wide, so I'm hoping I have extra room for the alternator and such.
Now all I need is the block, transmission, drive shafts, radiator, subframe, wiring, ECU, exhaust manifold, shifter, linkages, brakes, hydrallics and that's it! I'm so close!
But seriously, for those curious my build will start by porting and prepping this head a bit, then I'll get busy w/ an engine block which I'm hoping to run w/ the GT pistons, have them ceramic coated, new bearings seals pumps, etc. This combo (depending on what I decide)will give me about 10.5-11.5:1 compression which I'll keep under control with a Megasquirt ECU. All dropped in a custom subframe on my 1980 Mini 1000. I'm aiming for about 130hp, so we'll see how that works.
I'll keep you posted and try to take some pics along the way.
