Hi,
So this is my build thread for my b18c Integra type r mini.
So for a few years now I have been thinking about building a mini with a vtec engine, so I set about into reaching in to vtec conversions which lead me to this site. After looking on this site and on the net I came up with what subframe I wanted to use which was an allspeed.
I then made a list of parts and priced it all up to the spec and parts I wanted as I am sure you all know it soon all added up. So I put the idea on hold until I had the money to do it the way I wanted to.
Any way I was looking on the net one day about six months later and there was an unfinished project up for sell with not very good pics or info on it, but I knew what parts it had so I thought I would place a bid on what the parts are worth so I waited to see what happen. I sure you can guess but I won it, so of I went to pick it up hoping I was right about all the parts and the price. When I got there and saw it the first thing I saw that the shell had a sun roof which I did not want but I new I could sort that out. So the guy I got it from said do you want to get all the parts loaded up first and I was ok thinking there is not many oh no I was wrong, all these parts started to come out of every where loads that he did not list, xmas come early you could say for me.
So I loaded the car up and of I went, I just could not wait to get home to see everything. When home started looking at everything hers the list of stuff it came with:
Allspeed subframe kit
B18c Integra Type R engine and engine loom
S80 gearbox with LSD
Up rated Clutch (not sure what yet not got it out)
Carbon Fibre one piece STD front end
Full roll cage with dash bar and cross in the rear
Complete brand new set of car lights (Fronts and Rear)
Alloy rad
1 set of plastics sport pack arches
1 set of F/G sport pack arches
Mini Tec hinge kit for flip front
Complete set of spax coilover kit
Jon speed rear beam axle
Mpi fuel tank
C/F Rear valance
1 pair of C/F A panels
New Rear back plates and brakes
New disc drive hubs with mini sport 4 pot alloy calipers and vented brakes
Mini sport quick rack
Plus some other little things
Here are the pics of when I got it home:

instead of the minitec get, you should look into e36 or audio 80 trunk hinges, cheaper and more sturdy

I was happy but then it was time to look and the shell now I knew it had a sun roof so that had to go but as me and my dad started looking closely at the shell and what had been done to it, we thought it would be easier to start with a different shell.
Now I was going to put it in a STD round nose but after looking at it, it’s allot of work so I took the easier route and decided to go for a clubman.
So the hunt for a new clubman shell was on and of course we all want one with little rust as possible. I was in no rush it had to be the right shell at the right money. So while we was looking for a new shell I wanted to get the engine running to make sure it was ok. So back on the 16v mini forum looking for a wiring diagram. Now I am not going to lie the wiring is the part that was worrying me, now I know that you can buy looms but there seem allot of money to me, so I talked to my dad (a mechanic of over 25 years) and he said get a wiring diagram and we can do it. I got a diagram and brought a whole loom out of an Integra.

http://sam.fatboylan.net/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=900&g2_serialNumber=2
After allot of cutting out and me getting confused it was time to try it, so I plugged it into the engine loom and hooked the fuel pipes up to a mk6 polo tank and fuel pump that I broke for parts the week before and would you believe it, it started up and ran fine.
Hers a few pics of the loom looking in a bit of a mess where I have moved it around a few times (I will get better pics soon)

http://sam.fatboylan.net/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=909&g2_serialNumber=2
I also wanted to get the engine sat in right in the shell it came in so I knew where to modify the bulkhead when I got a new shell. So I cut all the stuff off I did not need on the intake manifold.
Before:
http://sam.fatboylan.net/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=912&g2_serialNumber=2
After:
http://sam.fatboylan.net/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=915&g2_serialNumber=2
So I was at a standstill until I could find a shell, after a while one came up. It had already been pulled apart which I did not mind because I could see the whole shell. Yes it has some rust but it is a mini and to be fare it was not that bad and had no sun roof and was a clubman. Now I had some work to get on with.

The new shell:
http://sam.fatboylan.net/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=919&g2_serialNumber=1
http://sam.fatboylan.net/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=921&g2_serialNumber=1
Right new shell the first thing I wanted to do is get the subframe in so some pics from allspeed, we marked out the inner wings as I decided to keep the steel front end.
http://sam.fatboylan.net/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=929&g2_serialNumber=1
http://sam.fatboylan.net/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=931&g2_serialNumber=1
A few cuts later:
http://sam.fatboylan.net/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=933&g2_serialNumber=1
http://sam.fatboylan.net/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=935&g2_serialNumber=1
http://sam.fatboylan.net/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=937&g2_serialNumber=1
http://sam.fatboylan.net/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=939&g2_serialNumber=1
It was time to strip the old mini down.
http://sam.fatboylan.net/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=941&g2_serialNumber=1
Engine and Subframe:
http://sam.fatboylan.net/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=947&g2_serialNumber=2
http://sam.fatboylan.net/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=950&g2_serialNumber=2
Subframe:
http://sam.fatboylan.net/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=953&g2_serialNumber=2
http://sam.fatboylan.net/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=959&g2_serialNumber=2
Now with the subframe out it was time to fit it and after a bit of trimming it went in.
http://sam.fatboylan.net/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=960&g2_serialNumber=1
http://sam.fatboylan.net/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=962&g2_serialNumber=1

With that done it was time to fit the engine back to the subframe and get it in the shell to mark and do the bulkhead mods.
http://sam.fatboylan.net/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=977&g2_serialNumber=1
http://sam.fatboylan.net/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=979&g2_serialNumber=1
http://sam.fatboylan.net/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=985&g2_serialNumber=2
http://sam.fatboylan.net/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=991&g2_serialNumber=2
We then marked the bulkhead and started cutting trying not to cut out more then we needed.
http://sam.fatboylan.net/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=992&g2_serialNumber=1
http://sam.fatboylan.net/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=994&g2_serialNumber=1
http://sam.fatboylan.net/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=996&g2_serialNumber=1
Now time to make the box. Here is the box made:
http://sam.fatboylan.net/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=1000&g2_serialNumber=2
http://sam.fatboylan.net/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=1003&g2_serialNumber=2
Time to weld the box in.
http://sam.fatboylan.net/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=1007&g2_serialNumber=1
Now we made up a piece of metal to weld up the other hole.
http://sam.fatboylan.net/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=1014&g2_serialNumber=2
http://sam.fatboylan.net/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=1017&g2_serialNumber=2
Then we put a sheet of metal to blank up the rest of the STD mini hole.
http://sam.fatboylan.net/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=1056&g2_serialNumber=2
When the engine is out this will be all cleaned up.
We then moved and did the plates inside on the floor.

Now all that’s in we have moved on to rust repair and getting the shell rust free.
I have also moved on to the suspension with help from people on here and have decide to get rid of the coilovers and rear beam axle and go for up rated mini suspension. So I took a rear subframe i had and stripped it apart and started to clean it up.
http://sam.fatboylan.net/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=1122&g2_serialNumber=2
http://sam.fatboylan.net/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=1128&g2_serialNumber=2
http://sam.fatboylan.net/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=1131&g2_serialNumber=2
http://sam.fatboylan.net/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=1134&g2_serialNumber=2
Sorry it’s a bit long, wanted to get it all in there.
Thanks

Right update after going to bingley hall mini show last week (great show) i got the panels i needed to get the shell rust free.

http://sam.fatboylan.net/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=1290&g2_serialNumber=2
http://sam.fatboylan.net/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=1293&g2_serialNumber=2
The sill is now fitted and the wings and A panels will be fitted at a later date when i am finshed working around the engine.
So at the moment i am still making the shell rust free.
I have also started on tubbing my rear arches.
Thanks

Now it was time to tub the rear arches.
Cutting out:
http://sam.fatboylan.net/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=1332&g2_serialNumber=2
http://sam.fatboylan.net/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=1335&g2_serialNumber=2
http://sam.fatboylan.net/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=1338&g2_serialNumber=2
The new piece of metal:
http://sam.fatboylan.net/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=1463&g2_serialNumber=2
All done:
http://sam.fatboylan.net/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=1470&g2_serialNumber=2
http://sam.fatboylan.net/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=1471&g2_serialNumber=1
Same on the other side:
http://sam.fatboylan.net/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=1567&g2_serialNumber=2
http://sam.fatboylan.net/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=1573&g2_serialNumber=2
http://sam.fatboylan.net/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=1576&g2_serialNumber=2
I then brought Secound hand allspeed drive shafts and heavy duty CV joints from Sivertson on here who lives in Sweden and after a few weeks they truned up. I could not wait to see them.
Pics:
http://sam.fatboylan.net/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=1501&g2_serialNumber=2
http://sam.fatboylan.net/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=1504&g2_serialNumber=2
http://sam.fatboylan.net/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=1507&g2_serialNumber=2
http://sam.fatboylan.net/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=1513&g2_serialNumber=2

http://sam.fatboylan.net/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=1519&g2_serialNumber=2
I then put them next to a mini joint.
Mini joint on the left and the H/D joint on the right as i am sure you can see:
http://sam.fatboylan.net/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=1522&g2_serialNumber=2
http://sam.fatboylan.net/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=1525&g2_serialNumber=2
http://sam.fatboylan.net/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=1528&g2_serialNumber=2
I then put it in the hub:
http://sam.fatboylan.net/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=1537&g2_serialNumber=2
Then i took a pic of the mini side to compare:
http://sam.fatboylan.net/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=1540&g2_serialNumber=2
As you can see the H/D joints are much bigger.
I then moved on to modding my servo so it would not hit the engine.
http://sam.fatboylan.net/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=1552&g2_serialNumber=2
http://sam.fatboylan.net/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=1555&g2_serialNumber=2
I cut one of the std mounting holes of and move it back a little bit so it would make the servo sit over one side.
Here it is fitted:
http://sam.fatboylan.net/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=1582&g2_serialNumber=2
http://sam.fatboylan.net/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=1585&g2_serialNumber=2
http://sam.fatboylan.net/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=1588&g2_serialNumber=2
http://sam.fatboylan.net/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=1591&g2_serialNumber=2
Thats it for now but next i am cutting my rear door pockets out and fitting my rollcage.
Thanks
Ant

Well Kam looks wise it changes daily :D
When i was going for std round nose front end i had it all sorted out but then i went down the clubman route.
At the moment this is what i am thinking:
This mini will have no chrome
Body colour Gery
Roof and mirrors Black
Arches i am not sure here i am thinking of mini miglia in carbon fibre but as this will only be the only carbon fibre on the car so i might get fibreglass ones and paint them black like the roof.
Wheels lets think.
At the moment 13x7 revolution i would like force racing wheels but i dont think my money can go that far at the moment.
Front end i am stuck on not sure what to do here. Bumpers, no bumpers all i know is i want the grill to be debadged and in black.
Dashboard somthing clean and simple like a bit of steel to fill in between the two dash rails and then just cut out for my gauge.
The gauge i am thinking of is a RX2n.
So thats about it for now here is a pic of the colour this on on my van that i done over two years ago that will be up for sale soon. I hope you like it.

Any ideas on the frontend for the clubman would be great.

The van looks great. Looking at a similar colour scheme for my clubman saloon. What shade of Grey is it?
I'm having black group 2 arches with Carbon Weezle bumpers/under riders and proper carbon fiber mirrors

For the bumpers I'd say keep em on, front of the clubman looks even more flat than it is without them, looks unfinished etc, imo
