Mini - named Jac brought for me by my parents as an early xmas present Back in June 2011.
Picked it up and got him in the garage early september.
In this time my daughter was born. Mid July. Time for mini work is limited.
The plan is to restore the body shell and install a B18c4 (as i love the engine due to owning a VTI for 4 yrs now)
Would like to use MiniTec subby but reluctant to import one. Open to suggestions!
Thinking of going with a front flip clubman style (just because i like the look) may change as time goes by, like everything.LOL
Mini rescue.

Fair play to you for tackling this, looks like quite a welding job!
Thats some funky sh!t carpet going on there in the garage  mind you it still amazes me when people lie on a cold concrete floor and wonder why they feel cold! groovy carpet is the way! you should what I got expect I would never take a picture of it
What are you gonna do about a frame then? Whereabouts are you?

Its not as bad as the camera makes out.
Most of it is just surface rust that needs cleaning and treating. What I have started with is the worst bit. Only gets easier that way.
Fame, well thats a while off yet, but ideally like to use a minitec, seen some on ebay with not too bad shipping cost.
Did think of making my own, but then thought that when I get to it I would be board of welding. Bolt on more my thing.
Same applies to the roll cage.

Theres alot of people here using the minitec frame so your in safe hands if you go that route, infact when it comes to hybrid engine swaps in a mini the info is pretty much all on here anyway whichever route you choose
Like I said, fair play to you, I know pictures hide alot but thats still alot of work, keep at it

I used the Allspeed frame and got on real well with it. Fitted nice straight out the box and I'm using a standard front end too. All I have modded on it was a bit cut off and flipped around for fitting a bigger rad and an alternator bracket welded to it. Also liked the frame as it kept the standard mini wheel track so it's harder to tell what's underneath that bonnet. I do have a diary on here somewhere but don't do much work in the summer so will be reserecting it soon to start my winter work. All the stuff I've done is on that diary just like KAM's.
Looking forward to seeing yours progress whatever frame you choose.

looks like alot of work to be done there, early stages are difficult times
keep up the good work :)
@ kam. would you rate the allspeed frame?
Well put it this way, if I managed to put a b16 in and on the road all myself with my skills I know where I stand as I know how much the frame helped with everything, so
As far as I'm concerned if someone has got a clubman or extended front and are looking to buy a frame and wants to keep a mini track then there is NO better frame out there than allspeed
I'd have words with anyone who says otherwise

Welcome to the forum!
Allspeed all the way, mine has been a pleasure to install and hang engine parts off! :-D!... Minitec frames look nice and clean though, not sure what they are like to work with.
Allspeed is as plug n play as you can get, minitec sometimes needs some convincing, it all goes together but sometimes doesn't play ball, its all in the build diaries here
Both frames are top notch but do cater for slightly different looks, if you wanna cram it all in a standard nose then minitec, if clubman then allspeed
I haven't mentioned the watsons frame as I'm just talking mini track here

Thanks for the info. I like the fact it keeps the track the same, I know about the wide mini tec but thought it was same for all. This may sway my decision. Also made in UK means allot to me.
Managed to get a sneaky hour on the mini (got in the dog house lol) started to strip the front end. Will probability strip engine.

On this note if anyone would like some bits then pm me. Would be looking at a small cost + passage (depending on what it is) I will add picks as the good bits come off.
Also to let you know I don't believe the engine would run without a full strip anyway (to my knowledge it last run in 2007).
