bit late in starting anything like this but a few people have asked about metro switches on a mini column so here it is:

first you need to weld up the square cut out on the left side of the mini tube
file it all nice and flat inside and out
make a new cut out at the 9 o clock position (cant remember if the old ones above or below but you get the idea)
and bend or chop the little sticky out bracket things

this is just to stop the switches sitting at a crazy angle due to the little locating tag inside them. if your realy lazy you might be able to get away with just filing off the tag in the switches and just clamping them extra tight so they dont turn on the tube.

to clamp the switches you need to chop off some of the plastic at the back like so:

so you can get a bit of flex and fit a jubile clip, like so:

slap it on tighten it all up and its solid :D a lot easier than converting a metro column to fit in a mini

Looks neat, what are the advantages of the metro switchgear, is it to do with using the complete metro loom :?:

i have the whole loom so easier to fit the metro switches. can still use them if you dont have a metro loom just need to do a bit of wire aranging, means you have the light controls (headlights and flashers) at your fingertips of having to reach for a switch. also got the facility for intermitant wipers but not sure how you would go about it without the metro loom

Sound, ive got a couple of sets of switches so will have a look at doing it, I wont be able to reach the switches from my seat with the harnesses on
