Started getting ready for the big front chop off and want to get the bonnet mounting sorted out. I bought a Watsons F/G bonnet but it doesn't have hinge mounts or the bonnet catch bracket. I want to keep the original hinges and internal release (no bonnet pins or dzus fasteners)

Any ideas ??

Found this photo from my local club site taken at MITP 03 on your stand, is this anyones bonnet (my first guess is Tony Wells). It looks to be in fibreglass and if so how is the metal fixed to the f/glass and how is the bonnet catch fixed - any photos you could put up would be most helpful

Any help from anyone muchly appreciated

That looks like Tony Wells car. It also looks just like mine, and its made entirely out of metal i'm afraid (well maybe a bit of filler as well)......

I'm sure you could fit some brackets to the fibreglass bonnet if you were to reinforce the area sufficiently.

Mabe a long strip of metal to prevent the area flexing, and just fibreglass it in place, and attach normal brackets to it........

Have a look in Paul A gallery. Hes fiberglassed the standard mini bonnet strengthning to his front end.

I have reneforced my whole fiberglass front end. If I was you I would simply cut the bracing of your steel bonnet, clean it all up and then weld some more steel into it to reach the back of the bonnet. Fiberglass it all on and attach the hindges to the frame somehow. This is how I strengthend up the bonnet area of mine.
