I will in the next couple of weeks be actually be properly starting on my Clubby Estate...... I have amassed a load of bits.... the Estate is now a shell awaiting blasting and the arrival of the repair panels...... there is a matching Estate trailer..... and the look is going to be Wood and Picket with an unknown colour scheme genuine wood and picket estate leather interior and grille..... 6x13 alleycats inc trailer and updated mini running gear, alloy 4 pots, alloy beam axle super mini fins, coilovers etc a one off underbody fuel tank and I also have an 8 point roll cage...... I hope to put a period looking burr walnut dash but still using the Vtec clocks......it will be finished by next year in time for LeMans 2007 I will add some updates here but the full updates will be on my website.....

cheers Keith.

I have now trial fitted the frame and this seems to be fine, I had to mod the rack a wee bit ( photos will follow ) the frame needs a couple of bits added as it was a nearly finished frame, I will be removing the frame shortly and adding these pieces before having the frame shot blasted and then powder coated, I got the second set of Alley Cat Rallye Specials today so I now have my 8 wheels required with the trailer being matching, the shell will hopefully go for blasting before I go off to Lemans in a few weeks, Im off in my 1275 and Im sure I will be crying out for the Vtec after this trip...... :)

more updates will follow.

I have now added my DC Sports manifold to the engine and it fits fine, I also picked up my 256mm Wilwood brakes for the mini hubs and they look the business ( cheers Juggernaut ) I will be taking the engine out of the frame next week to get the frame finished and then will turn my attention to the bodywork, but it is all looking good.. apart from being really busy with work and decorating ( what a pain )

But the updates to the build are as follows, I have reconned all the running gear and painted it all, this includes the Mk1 Metro Hubs ( new ball joints and new timken bearings ) Blasted and painted tie rods, lower arms, and specially made top arms, all with new rose joints ( Aurora Joints ) the rear beam ( aluminium ) has been painted with the new radius arms, and crutially the subframe has now been finished ( I had to add some strenghtening and some finishing touches ) and have just finished painting it just now, so if it is dry later on I will get a photo of it up with the arms on and Wilwoods, the shell has still not been blasted as I needed it to get the frame finished, so it will get blasted next week and I will start the repair as soon as I can..... and then I have to get the engined washed and cleaned so I can get it painted...

cheers Keith

That sure is one rusty mini, the frame looks a lot better with some paint on. Interesting brake conversion, I'd be interested in the details of that.

I saw your frame on the GTM forum when Allan posted a photo, I was so tempted to ask about poles and curtains, but I bit my tongue.

It's looking very smart Keith, that shell is going to take some work, glad mine are glassfibre now.

All the best

Stuart.

Cheers mate... the brakes are 256 rotors with alloy bells and mounts with dynalite calipers, it might be overkill but better more than less... the shell looks bad and to be fair it is.. but I will put a new floor in with additional inner sills, the rear floor is getting completely removed for a custom new one for the special fuel tank and new strenghtening rails for the integral towbar and storage there will be an aluminium ground effect panel covering it all when done.. I am possibly going to lower the front and rear valances for better lines and to cover the frame and exhaust etc... anyway it is better that most is getting replaced as then I know it is good and solid... then add the 8 point cage and it should be solid and safe...

also curtain poles.?? what curtain poles...??

Well I could have sworn those were curtains in the picture

Tell me more about the brakes please, is it a bolt on job? I'll guess not, just the sort of set-up I'm looking for.

Yeah it is a bolt on job but it was custom made by juggernaut ( user on here ) using rally design parts.... not cheap at over £600 I could take some measurement if you want to make your own set up...

Funny that I was calling it a Rabno1 shell earlier...  better to start with that as there aint any surprises when you blast it.... and yep the frame is looking 8)

Thanks Keith, I guess I just need to speak to juggernaut when I have the cash, far more basic things for me to do before that.

Thanks
Stuart.
