Hi Guys.
So who is coming this weekend??
We are all planning on camping at woodland waters, (the need for a nice shower is to great!). If anyone else is going to camp here let me know and I will give them a call and get us all booked on.
Oh and I will get a round in at the bar on Friday night as it will be my Birthday!
Cheers

Sorry Mike I can't make it, I'm at Anglesey this weekend playing with westfields

Happy Birthday for Friday Mike. :D
The head is now off the General but the queer way that the head gasket has failed suggests that the head's distorted. I'm taking it to work today so that it can be checked so fingers crossed that it's OK.
I'm still hoping to get there for Sunday.

Hey Phil, you don't get a 'formal' confirmtion, but I've seen both you & your dad listed on the accepted entries on the RAFMSA website.
Inspection of my cylinder head suggests that it's totally flat so if I get my finger out it's entirely do-able to have the wee fella running for Sunday.

Thanks, we asumed that was the case but we can't get on the forum yet until our membership is sorted out.
I think we are probably heading over Saturday morning and stopping at Barkston overnight. I will phone dad later to check.
Good news on the cylinder head Andy, see you all at the weekend.

Phil, if you are camping at Barkston overnight its prob best if you pm Bill2b before hand as they need to know numbers for security plus he will prob tell you what time the crash gate is open.
We are stopping Fri & Sat at Woodland Waters - we should have got a season ticket for that place this year. ;)
Good to know you have a flat head Andy, now just take a sicky/work from home/holiday on Friday to fix the General and come out to play all weekend
Paul, are you dropping in on Sunday to wear those new Avon's out?

Is there anything on the forum about food on Saturday night at Barkston, that was the reason we were staying at Barkston really. The last e-mail we had they were not sure if it would go ahead.
If not, we will probabably book into Woodland Waters.
I'll drop Bill a PM.

The BBQ is now back on
copied from the RAFMSA forum-
FOOD ARRANGEMENTS
Many apologies for the delay in confirming the food arrangements. As originally advertised on the entry forms there will be a Hog Roast for the evening. Food will be available from 1830 to 1930 a will consist of Pork, apple sauce, some salad and potatoes.
Please bring along something to drink (easier than me trying to cater for a wide variety of tastes), something to sit on (unless you like a cold tarmac floor) and something to eat if you are a vegetarian (sorry, didn't quite manage to get anything sorted at this late stage).

The flat head is good, though it's difficult to keep a hat on.
No sicky/holiday on Friday & the car deffo won't be back together before Saturday cos I've not had much chance during the week.

Event 1 anti clockwise chicane on final straight dad beat me by 3 tenths.
event 2 same but without final chicane I beat dad by 3 tenths.
event 3 small circuit with Andy's favorite hairpin.. time to go and play!

Fail as in snap? Or is it repairable?
Smurfy

Its snapped. Got 6 runs each and diff mods seem to have done the trick. Think we will have to get a set of shafts machined rather than cut and weld. Had a good day tho.

Am glad that the diff mod works but total bummer about the driveshaft. :(
Are you heading over tomorrow Andy?
Dunno, the General is back together & fired up so he seems happy but I'm now tinkering with the trailer cos a couple of the tyres have very uneven wear.
Looks like I'll have to fit my spare Mini alloys with the Bridgestone pontenzas onto the trailer.
........... totally trivial stuff compared to a snapped driveshaft.

I've decided that I'm not risking coming down for Sunday as I'm concerned about the trailer & have run out of tinkering time. There's got to be an underlying reason why the rear O/S tyre has worn in such a odd way & I don't fancy doing 300miles hoping for the best.
I'll race at Harewood cos that's just down the road but methinks that a proper trailer is going to have to go on the shopping list cos I keep having problems.
...... on the bright side at least I don't have to get up at 5am tomorrow. ;)

It was WET this morning! So we had the cheating Wets on.
Dad managed to get the fastest time of all cars for event 1! But the Gedi did still have slicks on!
But I beat him in event 2 this afternoon in the dry.
All in all a good weekend. Shame the rest of you lot could not make it!

Nice work Mike , having beaten your Dad twice out of five races you should twist his arm to let you have a joint drive at Harewood. :)

It is tempting, especially as I now have a set of MSA spec overalls.
But I have not got the Race licence yet, and I can not be bothered to get one this year! Maybe next year......

I love my wets :)
Mike certainly gave me some competition although its kinda embarrassing being beaten by your own car so he is definately not going to Harewood. Marie recons I am the Button of the team whilst Mike is the Hamilton - especially after his lecture from Bill for missing a red flag - which turned out to be totally unfounded - thanks Bill for apologizing to him yourself.
The poor little car had a busy weekend with 30+ runs yesterday (Mike kept getting re-runs) and 22 today, The alternator was getting a bit tired again so had to have top ups from the van but apart from that it ran faultlessly.
A good weekend although its a shame the Smurfmobile self destructed, Steve was quite happy to get 6 runs in and with delevolopment its going to be quite a machine :)

Wets or not it's quite an achievement to come ahead of the field, your car is a credit to you, to take all that stick and perform like it dose, good to see you and mike get the max out of the car with often only a few tenths either way :) Keep on pushing, Had a great day saturday, It won't be long before we are out again, Definitely been bit buy the bug, Steve.

I'll second that. Built once & built right, it puts my ever breaking engine to shame :(

No problem Richard
I was given the Miss interpreted information from my deputy after I got in from my run so I had a chat with Mike, After further enquiries it was apparent that the "Red Flag" was not actually being displayed so Mike had not missed anything, Hense the apology. :D
Glad you had a good time shame some of the others could not make it.
Next time though you can have your own section of airfield to warm up your tyres, but I bet you will still not get anywhere near Simons Jedi
Richard 57.097
Mike 56.155 He he,
Simon (with his warmed up tyres) 45.733
He now holds the lap record on all our circuits
Any Minis up to the challenge?
One point to note we did have our share of Mini Issues today as usual but this time it came from our own RAFMSA mini man who managed to go AWO and hit numerous posts on most of his runs and run out of petrol despite the fact his fastest time was 1.10.489 (ranked 33 out of 36) :-D:-D:-D
