looks good, hows the drive shafts?? i was told the engine needs to sit very close to the right guard to get close/equal lenght shafts??

Looks very clean, Matt.

Tell me is this engine sitting in any angle?
Std G13B is 15 degrees to forward.
If you can do that, all of oil level will be good.
Where will you attach alternator?
I will be most interested with that!

Cheers

The engine is be positioned for best fit , we are not trying for equal length shafts. I think proper suspension / corner weights is more effective that drive shaft length.

The engine is sitting about 13 degrees forward, alternator should not be a problem

more photos soon guys...

On my lhd mini the diff housing fouled the stearing rack "hump" when the
engine was to much to the right, with equal length shafts it just missed it

This was the case with my frame about 5 degrees forward and engine mounted pretty high, i´m sure you guys get it right though

Hi Marcus,

I did very similar to you then.
I mounted my engine about 5 degrees and equal length drive shaft.
I needed to do this so I can fit R1 carbs inside Std. bonnet.
I haven't figure out where I will be mounting my alternator and so on though....
Also, I will be moving house soon......when will I finish my project.... .
It was mean to be 2 years project and now it is 6 years.
I think i can add 10 in front of it.... .

Atchi,

I bolted my alternator directly to the top engine mount bracket,
then just a rod in front of the engine that attach to the adjustable thingy on the alternator.
That was the last thing i did to my frame before sending my engine to Mr. Allspeed… i feel like a cheater but i will probably sail through mot, they can be a real pain in the ass over here

I have renovating house, baby (his 2 years now), and building
garage the "must do" tasks never ends…

Hi Marcus,

I know how you feel.
I got 2 small children 1 and 3 year old.
I have redecolated entire house (11 rooms)..in 2 years.

You will think you can work on your cars but how wrong was I... .
I will be moving house and getting a new job.
New house will be no garage to start off with so my mini will be in parent's garage....

Hence... many more years.

Oh well, one day.....

I had the same problem with the steering rack hump. Untill i looked at the new quick rack that i had bought and realised that it didn't have the hump on it. The only clearance issues i have is with the driver side tie bar at the moment i think it will hit the sump, i may look at changing the mounts but i don't want to yet.

My engine has about 5degrees of lean anymore and i don't think it will fit into the mini front end.

It will be interesting to see the alternator setup on the all speed frame.

Hi Matt,

You haven't got middle shaft housing for D/S drive shaft.
Looks like you are using mounting holes for your rear engine mount.
Will you have special type driveshaft?
If you need to see ehat it looks like(housing), I have both mk1 and mk2 setup.
So let me know.

Cheers
Atchi

MattG

its uses the std middle shaft , there is a step in the bearing carrier to allow for the engine mount to fit at the same time.

Hi Matt,

That's very neat!
I'm using those 4 screw holes for my engine mounts.
I was going to weld bracket to top og my engine mount so that it will stay fix to my engine rather than subframe.

Thanks for that, I can see how I can do it now!
Will you need longer belt for it?

Cheers

Goody goody!!!

Cant wait for it... I have ordered on frame + bought 10 tickets to win a fram. :D

How is it with the space for turbo?

My is going 4wd + turbo. Motec M4+Stack instrument and carbon dash from Curlye. Parts from Suzuki Racing Development is on its way (new forged pistions low 8,5:1 and forged rords)

I will post pictur of my project when I have al the parts. Cant wait for the fram..... :D

I guess gettin the turbo to fit will be a headache in round front mini, regardless of frame design.

It will all depend on turbo size, manifold design, intercooler size and radiator position.

So many constrainghts with a round nose.

What turbo and manifold design do u wish to use? probably best to start a new thread for the turbo questions and answers.

thread hijack. but heres an idea fo the absolute minimum space required. this is the tinyest manifold setup i could come up with. looks litk itl fit but dont even think about getting a rad or intercooler between the turbo or grill :)

Hi,
The engine looks about an inch more central than alot of the other conversions ive seen. Does the gearbox not now foul the nearside wing with it so far across? I ask as i dont want to cut the pickup im hoping to do this to, around to much.

Thanks

I miht be interested in the Mk 2 too as I would like to retain the injection system etc, would like it all to be basically a suzy in a mini body!!

ed4ran

The MK1 has injection as well.
and is smaller so fits easier in the front of the mini.

Matt,

these rings around the rubbers, are they against torque? Haven't seen them, excluding several RUSH Seven. Hope, you understand my request  .

[quote]They are an engine mount overtravel stop and also give a contradictional resonance frequency (CRF) to the rubber.

... but i think they just look good .. lol
