Hi all,

Right, we'll do the mickey taking later guys, but I spun my mini on a back road on Saturday night (I know!!) Bending the wishbone on the driver's side and wrecking an alloy. The wishbone is no probs, I'll have spares off Geoff for tomorrow, but it's a 3 week wait for a new alloy! As my technical knowledge is low, can someone answer this??

If I currently run a PCD of 95mm on my current alloys, will a set of metro turbo alloys plonk straight on? I've found some for £15!

Thanks guys

Joe

NO turbo ones are A series PCD you need K series 95.25mm.

hmm, ok....

Thanks for that, so what do I need to look out for? Bearing in mind I'm looking through freeads so won't have loads of tech. info. Does it depend on the year of the metro as to what metro wheels will fit?
Thanks

Is it any metro from 1996 onwards?

Sorry for all the posts, it's just if I can get some by Thursday morning at the latest then I can still get the thing mapped properly on Thursday :? !

Regards

Joe

You've wrecked my new wheels so soon??

Put 2 Alloys on the front, and put 2 metro wheels on the back, as you'll need to map the car with the wheels your going to use, you'll also need the grip, and you can see how far out your speedo is at the same time.

They look nice on your car BTW, Are thoes arches wider than normal?

Why do you cover your number plate in the photos?

I know, it's fully repairable, but I believe it's safer to get a new once ones had a thump.

I didn't realise the width of the wheel will make a difference to the tuning?? Does that mean I will have different performance to that of one with just 6" wide wheels on? I'll have a look at doing that though...

Yes the front arches are basically a more exagerrated sportspack that Geoff Watson shaped up, this is just to accomodate a 7" wide wheel.

Not sure why I covered the numberplates, they're just saved like that. (Work can be slow sometimes! :) )

Ive always wondered about the covering number plates thing.

If someone wants to nick your pride and joy, not knowing the reg wont slow them down.....

I guess one advantage is, if they have equipment to track numberplates (say a friend in the DVLA!) then they'll know where you live!

A while back there was a rumour that somebody was doing exactly that. People were posting a lot of information about their cars, even what alarms they had fitted, and somebody was using the information and the number plate to track them down and steal them....... Don't know how true it was, but i know somebody who can track number plates, so that part is true....!!!!

Problem is, if you attend the shows, your car ends up on club websites all round the country, so somewhere your number plate will show up.....

I use a battery cut off switch hidden in the car, and one of these through the seat frame and steering wheel for day to day parking.

It's chained to the garage floor with the DTA removed when stored.

I read somewhere there are web sites that you can look up UK reg plates, similar to the states where you can get anyone’s details from their car plate if you have reason to need it - like an accident etc.

I see lots of 'No*a's drive with no plates on the local Cruz, which seems daft when the thing is painted bright purple and pink with neons, as it wouldn’t be that difficult to track down painted like that.

Joe,

The width of your wheel wasn’t what I meant, its the wheel with and tyre diameter wise, also the fuel that is in the car is important, as the DTA will be mapped to that.
