HI all,

Not long had my mini out of the body shop, so not got a lot done anyway, today i fit the drives seat in and the steering colume seem to be must longer then normal, is this cos of the UJ watsons fit to the cloume so if fits to the metro rack.

if so could i have the column cut down any way?, cos its seems like i might aswell sit on the back seats.

Thanks
john

Does the watsons setup use the rover 100 column et al aswell as the rack ? I've not got as far as steering column yet - just a spline sticking through the floor !!!!

I though they just used a normal Mini column, with the bottom half modified to a Metro one.

Hi all, yes its a normal mini coume but its has to be modified to fit on the metro rack, so all watsons do is fit a UJ to the end on the mini column so it fits the metro rack. but with this mod need i seem to be sitting in the back on the car.

thanks

You can fit whatever column you want to the watsons kit - I think that it is meant to be a mini one but you can simply weld the UJ to anything! If the mini colume is too long then just cut what you dont want off to make it shorter and then weld the uj to the bottom - just make sure its straight and that the weld is good - might be good to have a sleeve.
