As title suggests. I have found a donor from a 1990 swift GTI. Does this have the mark 1 engine/box or mark 2/3?

Hi,

It will most likely mk2 ph1.
The easiest way is to look at dizzy.
If it has vacume take off like mini dizzy then mk1.
The gearbox wise, you will see the other side of flywheel has small cover.
If it is aluminium then mk1, but if it is pressed steel black then mk2.
The cost reduction by Suzuki for you.

Mk2 gearbox has single pin diff like Mini, it will snap if you wheel spin a lot.
I know one guy who stripped spider gear and planet gear after reving engine to 8500rpm in a road rally with 3000miles old gearbox.

Mk1 diff is stronger with cross pin diff with 4 planet gears.

cheers
