i am putting this up for a friend that does not know much about computers but a lot about mini's and only recently decided to join the bandwagon of having a 16 valve mini. His nickname is spider (no idea what his real name is but it really does not matter) any way he tried to contact me when i was in the UK last year because he did not know where to start but could not get a hold of me so he did it his way... that was to build a whole new sub frame that would also hold the donor cars suspension instead of using the original mini setup he originally got a Hyundai accent and started with that but just when we was about finished a friend of his offered up a written off car that had the twin cam engine for $150 so then it was upgraded. now this is a hillclimb car straight up nothing fancy just build to go.

the car does not show anything out of the ordinary and that is a standard length front

the garbage bag is labeled "laundry" but it contains the wiring loom that has not yet been cut down because it was getting to close to raceday and well it worked so why risk making it not work (he is going to cut it back later)

and this is one i just thought looked like a good use for old mini parts that where no good any more after a 16v conversion

he might have another shell that i can combine with my awd corolla to make another hillclimb special

well tell me what you think and ill pass the messages along
thanks

what are those pipes and where is cooling?

I'd hazard a guess they are water pipes than run to the radiator???

LOL yeah they do go to the radiator and that would be located in the remains of the boot/back seat. it is built as a dirt track hill climb car and he did not really want anything going through the radiator so it went to the boot.
i believe that there is room in the front for a radiator if it was going to be a street car.
i should see if i can get some photos of his other minis, he has one that he calls a "mini mini" that has about 2 feet taken out of the middle but it still has a roof and doors with sliding windows.
apparently there is video footage of the "mini mini" at the hill climb track doing a full forward flip and landing back on its wheels then continuing on to set a time only 6 seconds off the track record, but i have not seen the video :(

i think he has gone the right way to avoid the "traditional" way we do things with a cut up mini frame.. i bet his MacPherson Strut and wishbone assembly is much tougher, ideal for the rough stuf!

it also removes the need for the front of the sub frame to hold anything important like the control arms so it can be light weight and does not need to be in any particular position then there would be no need to modify the sump.
there is also a lot of aftermarket coil over struts available to replace the mc phearson

oh i forgot to put in the top that apart from being his first venture in 16 valving a mini from the first scratch of the head to the start line was only 4 months
