Hi Gang,
I just went to a sight called Honda-Tech.com and found a guy that just changed the 5th gears in the tranny and lowered the rpm by almost 2000 when in
5th gear.He got the gears from a 1990/91 acura integra LS.

That does not run a B series unit or box but( unless they have done a swap)

Sounds OK if you like that sort of thing,
Personally, i love the revs, can drive all day on the motorway at 6000 rpm and not get fed up of it.......
Useful if you wanna run 10's tho!
Never really noticed much difference when i changed from 10s to 13s on my last Mini. The tyres on 10s are massive....... Not sure what the difference in rolling radius is, but it can't be a lot.....
Theres not much difference between a 165/70/10 and a 175/50/13....but its quite different to the standard Hondas 185/60/14!

Hmm... still got this little voice in the back of my head saying I should try the stock motor (B16a2 probably) with the 10" wheels. Might be worth a go just for laughs if nothing else. I figure I can always "trade up" if I need to!
Think the Cooper S discs would be up to the challenge of stopping the car?

Check this out... used a program called GearCalc to chuck around some ideas. I input the transmission info from the B16A3/4 and used 10" tires:

Looks like 10" wheels might be acceptable after all! :) I had to cut out the MPH / RPM in each gear cause the formatting was all whacked. :(
Andy,
You couldn't do that for 165/60/12 could you please!
Cos I'm definately running 12's as I've already got 'em

mrminiuk - the calculator is freeware, if you want a copy I will e-mail it to you. (it is only 516kb zipped up)
