0-60 about 5.5 secs

1/4 mile time about 14.5secs

Do you reckon?? so who's done those timings then?

If you include building it I'm up to zero mph in over a year now !!!
Ah - tell a lie - a few weeks ago I dangled the shell from the garage roof and moved it from one end of the garage to the other - 0 to 4 metres per minute was about 15 minutes !!!

God no wonder I'm slow. I've got to change gear twice

I would have said nearer 14.9 / 15.0 and 6.5 for a real 0-60 sprint time for a 1600 Vtec in a standard(ish) weight shell.
I might be wrong, but i think Tony Wells has yet to break 14seconds and his is known to be a very well sorted Vtec...

I thought Tony Wells had broken into the 13s, sure I witnessed it at Avon Park one year? Over to Tony

I know he was a whisker away from the magical sub 14 (still beaten me every time we've raced tho  ) last time i saw.

It does serve as an example though... Tony's motor is considerably quicker than a std 1600.... more than 1/2 a second quicker i'd have thought???

Yes i did get a 13.8 at avonpark.

ive not had too much luck since. went to pod last year and had problems with my altanator and only got one run. i managed a 14.1 with lots of wheel spin and no altanator belt.

should be able to go quicker once i get my gearing sorted

My apologies Tony!

Are you coming to Minis Vs Beetles again???

 :?:

Hmm I'm a newbie here, so first off let me say Hi!

Ok, now that's out the way, onto my first and probably controversial post (!).......

Just having looked at the above quoted figures, I'm kinda dissapointed - I would have thought that with the power / weight ratio of a Vtec Mini, the figures would have been more impressive than that?

This is in no way meant to be derogatory, I fully understand & appreciate the work, time & money that goes into building one of these cars. I really love the idea of it, I'm just a bit surprised they are not a bit quicker.

Maybe I'm just talkin' sh1te!

Jeez forgive my obvious denseness!!

I am the above poster

Well EauRouge, with that kind of power to weight ratio, traction becomes a bit of a problem

Ok, maybe such figures are not representative of the car's true performance potential, due to traction issues.

SO, what are they like out on the open road or track?

Can someone give me an example of a non-mini peformance car that would be comparable with a Vtec Mini? I'm just trying to get an idea how quick these things are.

Getting a ride in one would be ideal but the chances of that are next to nil, as I am not aware of any locally or even within reasonable travelling distance :(

its fair to say that the 1/4 mile times aint that great but on the road there aint too much that compairs.

i remember one nite i raced an evo 6 maki(?) and they aint slow in standard form!

from a rolling start i was pushing him along untill about 100/110mph.

i always the the driver around but he will never look at me.

apparently he knew were i got the car tuned and went to them to find out about my car cos he had just spent aload of cash making his car faster and wasnt happy

minis vs beetles EVERY easter monday!

You fancy a final race against my mini's in its swansong event? (i'm either taking it to the states - if i go; or selling it to someone over there if i don't make it to the US!)
