Hi can any one tell me how a remote servo works exactly and what I would need to work it from the pedal ie master cylinder? Also where is the best place to buy on from thanks.

Hey Adam,
They work by amplifying the force/presure after the initial pressure that is supplied from the master cylinder and your foot. This initial pressure causes a valve to open in it that allows vacume pressure to get to the diaphram that then adds the extra force on system by also pushing on the fluid.
Thats a really rough and probably confusing way of saying it. I have one fitted in my mini and have recently moved it under the guard to save engine space. I have a single cylinder system so it pushes on my honda front discs and smaller reer drum cylinders, if you have a twin system I'm not sure how it is meant to be plumbed but would guess between the splitting valve and the front t-joiner.
Mine came out of an old Holden (Vauxhall) but the servo is a PBR VH44 for reference. Does a great job to stop the car, especially when the rear brakes are setup correctly.
Probably not much help though as the booster is made in Australia and I'm NZ but it may give you a nudge in the right direction.

Hi, just my thoughts. If you buy one from any of the Mini Parts specialists you will know that it is correct for your system, because it will be for a Mini and you can tell them what type of brake circuit system you have and type of brakes. The remote servo is basically a brake booster and makes the amount of pressure that you need to exert on the pedal less for the same pressure at the brake pistons / wheel cylinders. If you buy a second hand brake booster you need to know the ratio. They were offered for all sort of classic cars to enhance the driveability of them and make them more modern as an add on accessory. If the ratio is too high say for a Triumph or a MG - Say a bigger car with different brakes, you may make the system too sensitive. If you call MOSS Europe or Mini Spares, they will know the Mini / Mini Cooper S ratio of the servo, or it may be on the internet.

dont know what the correct ratio is, as per Birdmans post, but this worked for me.
