Anyone phoned AMT recently?

I really wish they would release their subframe...

It's getting to the stage I might be tempted to go the Watson's route, despite the fact I hate the extended length and width. :?
But I think I'll just sit and wait, I really want to have it fitted under a standard length round front rolling on some sticky (really sticky i guess...) tyres on 12" rims!

Any info from anyone who's been pestering Andy at AMT recently would be great! Or in the off chance Andy himself reads this - let us all know whats going on!

Cheers guys (and girls? I don't know if there are any)

Some more work will be done on the vtec frame in the next few weeks, that’s if AMT don't get any busier!!

These legendary Honda frames were promised as far back as November 02!

Like yourself, I was dead excited, so excited in fact I booked and paid for the cars entry on the Italian Job 03 on the news of the frame's impending release - For the benefit of our friends in the Colonies, this is a 3,500 mile ($5,000 to join) charity fund razing jolly across Europe for 10 days.

Finally by Easter 03, after countless emails, snail mail and phone calls, it dawned on me this mythical frame was never going to materialise in time.

I looked at all the other players, and only one stood out amongst the rest, namely Geoff Watson; I had a lengthy chat with Geoff, explained my time restrictions and agreed with him to book the car in a few months later.

I delivered the stripped rolling shell and burnt engine to him the first week in July, and set about parts chasing at the shows and on Ebay.

I visited Geoff’s workshop several times to deliver parts as and when he required, and in the final stages helped out for a few days, and as promised, the starting, rolling & stopping MOT'd car was finished 2 days before Castle Combe last September. - This was a shell that had been off the road for over 10 years.

I second fixed the rest of the car, and was able to visit the Gaydon show the following week, So as testament to Geoff’s build, I had put less than a 100 miles on the car before setting off to Italy, and despite my reservations, the car made it there and back faultlessly.

Check out the photos in the gallery, Have a chat with Geoff, he’s very friendly & doesn’t bite, and being a Yorkshire man, will tell you bluntly what is and isn’t possible. And you too could have yours on the road in only 8 weeks, or alternatively you could wait…. And wait… and wait.

In my business, 90% of our customers come from recommendation; I leave you to make up your own mind on what frame to use.

Cars come and go, but you’ll never forget the first time you drive your own 16v Mini – Am I right boys?

The Vauxhall AMT frame buyers seem happy with the service they get from AMT, I just don't understand why they don't set a realistic date and work to that deadline, giving out finish dates and then not delivering does not do much for the credibility and as we see above people will go to a different source.
It's business common sense not to promise what you cannot deliver.

As much as I like Geoff, I would have rather spent the money with Andy (AMT) as I admire his quality work, but sadly he didn’t reply to any contact I tried to make with him over a realistic delivery time for the Honda frame.

I don’t mind either way about the extended front on my car, no one even notices it, On the plus side, I ‘m now happily driving my car, and don’t have to hide my Renault in the corner of the field when I drive to Mini shows anymore.

I now blast around and grin alot when I see peoples faces in the mirror saying " What the..!!.. was that just went past"?
