Hi folks... I just bought myself a 1967 mk1 which will be upgraded with an allspeed frame and a vtec engine... I'm not yet sure which engine I will use... still have to do lots of research...
The car is still at the previous owner... I will get the car somewhere in the beginning of september and then I will order the frame and look for an engine... can't wait to start!
Anyway... some pictures of the car!

Are you going to adapt the allspeed frame to fit the mk1 shell or the shell to single bolt?

hi andy... that's a good question... i'm not sure if i will have to adapt any of them as i asked allspeed if the frame would fit an mk1 shell and they said it will... i will have to investigate this further...
i have collected the car now and it has been put away at a friends garage... we just made an offer yesterday to buy a house with a big garage so let's hope they accept... then i'll be able to start on the project...

Hi, looks a lot better than mine. I have a '64 and the bottom six inches is complete rust so lots of welding required. Have done the complete floor and sills, just got the boot, rear quarters, and a few patches to do. I am going down the red top route. Good luck and keep us posted.:)

Reason I ask is I have a freind with a minus which uses a mk1 subframe and allspeed said they couldn't make one, interesting. Keep us posted on how you get on and I'll do the same.
Andy.

I finally started on this little machine and yesterday I removed the front of my mini. Today I will try to remove the complete subframe/engine and then I can start offering the new frame. I will pick up my B16A2 engine tomorrow. It has arrived from the UK.

Hi Berre ,
I see your engine is already modified on the alternator side ( special mount ) .
Have you bought the engine from somebody who gave up his project or did you buy the alternator mount specific .
BTW Welcome and good luck .

Hi Mr. Mini,
I bought it from a member. You can see his build thread at
http://www.16vminiclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=22202
I see you are from Belgium as well? Do you have a finished car yet and do you use it on the road?
Greets,
Berre.

Hi Berre ,
Yes I am from belgium and am in the process of building an allspeed frame into standard roundnose mini .
Mini is built to full Mini Miglia race car spec for circuit racing , albeit with a Belgian registration number plate .
Succes with your build
regards , Harald

the frame should fit the shell, but the shell should be strengthened, fit a sleeve where the tower bolt goes through the shell, like on late cars

I will strengthen the shell with sleeves to be sure.
I recently bought the tower bolts and the big washers. I'm not sure if I should use some other mounting stuff between the frame and the shell or just but it together metal to metal?
I have also bought the mini spares subframe tower improvement kit but I'm not sure if it is wise to use this (see picture).
Advice is welcome.
Thanks.

you don't need that at all with the Allspeed kit.
he supply's top big washer.. and you don't have any sort of washers/rubber between the subframe and the shell.
(i do put some copper grease in-between before bolting it to the shell though)

Ok. Thanks for the quick response Matt.
So I just need the big tower bolts and nothing else? I'm not sure if I received the top big washers with the frame. I'll check that tonight.
I suppose that the mini spares top washers are the same?

yes just need some big bolts , i might have some somewhere if you cant locate any
and yes the washers should have come with the kit , i think you will find they are thicker that the mini spares ones.

Matt, thanks for the offer but I already got the big bolts from mini spares.
I'll check tonight to see if the washers were supplied with the frame. I'll send Rob and email if I don't have them.
