Bear,

It is not a kit; it is a bespoke design using a brand-new MkIV shell.

And it is probably the classic tail of woe.

The car started with a trip to Kent Auto Developments (KAD) in 1996. I met with Colin Woollard (owner) and we started ruminating about making a special Mini. The idea was to copy the Porsche RS (RennSport) idea of having a car that would be driven on the street but be capable of holding its own on a track day... something that they did not do quite so much of in 1996.

We went through a couple of iterartions... including buying a 1800cc Honda GSR drivetrain... we rejected that because of having to lengthen the bonnet and probablt use 13" wheels.

We finally settled on doing something "special" and adapting a Kawasaki ZZR1100 bike drivetrain... the biggest challenge being to implement front-wheel-drive.

To make the story short, the car has been finished now for about four years. After investing close to 20,000GBP in parts and labor (at really reduced rates from KAD because I agreed to let them only work on it when they had slack time), the car runs and is ready to ship... unfortunately I have fallen on hard times and am unable to afford to pay the freight and import duries to import the car into the USA, for which it was originally intended.

[You can check out a short (24 second) video of the car being tested on a local go-kart track at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xYCkmloFpiY]

[Another video (car partially finished) from inside the car taken with a cellphone is at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-JhrMJvWDOw&feature=related]

Colin says he will not undertake to make another one, but if he did it would cost in excess of 40,000GBP to duplicate.

The car is for sale TO THE RIGHT BUYER... you can contact Colin at KAD at 130-387-4082 if you are REALLY interested... can save yourself a good five years and a lot of cash... offers of aroung 16,000GBP would be seriously considered.

I looked, but I can't find or remember the gear ratio on the reverse drive.

Here are about the best pictures I have of it:

This doesn't show the drive motor, but gives a pretty good idea of the arrangement.

http://i171.photobucket.com/albums/u282/minja1100/Minja%20Pictures/ReverseDrive.jpg

This shows the drive arrangement and the safety shield over the spur gears.

Colin at KAD can probably tell you the ratio.

As you can see from the picture, the output sprocket of the bike gearbox drives the input gear mounted on the differential. The output shafts from the differential go to the chain drives on each side of the bay to drive the front wheels. Remember that the case around the differential rotates and is filled with differential grease, not oil.

The differential is a standard Quaife torque-biasing differential. The housing around it and the axles are bespoke. The drive is a standard Mini starter motor and solenoid.
