hi all,
its about time that i started a thred about my MICAMIN
(all the credit to this build will go to (BIGCHIEFthe mini forum) it been an inspiration its his fault)
any way hear goes.
http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee151/flyingbannanaman/28.jpg
ive had this mk2 cooper for about 15 years and used and abused it doing 12 car rallys
so its had a hard life, after the last engine build which cost me lottttts then i had a
problem with oil feed which fu**ed the engine up in a big way i said never again
to spend so much on an A series engine.
it was 1340, 98bhp stage 4 11stud head,rimflow valves,full roller rockers,split webbers,
643 rallycam,adjustable timing,centre main strap,cross drilled/nitrided,staight cut drops,
3syn straight cut box,crosspin diff.it sounded fu**ing fantastic.
history lesson over.
NOW
after reading bigchiefs build i was bitten by the micramin bug THANKS
then started to look for a doner
http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee151/flyingbannanaman/IMG_0187.jpg
and this was it hit by a bus, but engine has only done 9000 miles £180 not bad bargain,
and then it started oh dear

http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee151/flyingbannanaman/IMG_0167.jpg
with the making of subframe and trying to put engine in this was the hardest part
due to me having a latter engine and a bigger gearbox which ment i had to re make my
plan of copying bigchiefs subframe (you got it so easy bigchief lol)
but onwords and up words

looks like an intresting build! you've chopped alot out of the bulkhead? would have thought it would loose alot of strength? how have you put the strength back into the shell? would you not have been better off tilting the engine/shifting it forward abit?
love the scooby btw!

I'm liking the detail on the alternator bracket - I've got a tensioning bolt of my alternator too, for the simple fact I just cant get in there to put any decent amount of tension on the belt - getting in there with a 10mm spanner tho for a few tweeks certainly does the trick.

Good work ;)

Hiya,

Just to let you know, I tidied up the thread, as it appeared to be getting a bit personal by some people and off topic.

If you wish the 'old' thread with all the posts, I can restate if you wish. Just PM if you do.

No worries.

cheers

looks very tidy, like your exhaust fanimould, what is is modified from, is it a modded k-series manifold? Is this in a standard length front, and how much clearance do you have infront of the alternator?, Mart

Thats a really neat install, can't believe you don't see more Minissan's

For interest/fun, I was responsible for the paint Booth's (and engine plant, etc) cleanliness when that wee 51 plate Micra rolled of the line in Sunderland. :D

hi mate
the manifold is from a mitsubishi dont know which one i just took a stroll round a scrap yard for one and found this it has been alterd to fit. and this is a standard front. the alternator does poke throgh the grill i am making up a cover for it at moment

It seems that alternator would be protruding very much at front, Even you use a Clubman front you can't hide the Alternator bulging. I would suggest get away with the nylon tensioner and made a bracket that would make the alternator more closer to the block, and tension it with the main pulley. I did something like this with an a/c.
http://i561.photobucket.com/albums/ss55/rmrsasteel/acbracket2.jpg
So I hope this what you should have done to make your set up fit in a std nose.
this is my 2 cents worth of suggestion.

i did look into that but my alternator is only 15mm from block i would not gain much space,
ive now got my loom back my mate has let me down he has done some off it but ive got to finnish it off ive not got a clue so this may take a while

Great build, but the name Minissan is already pretty well known around the world. When people search for Minissan, here's the car they'll see...
http://www.classicminis.org/minissan/minissan.gif

http://www.classicminis.org/minissan/engine.gif

http://www.classicminis.org/minissan/rear.gif

It was the MiniWorld cover, 1st feature car in the Mad Minis book, and the Ebay Motors Master winner HERE (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iMb8F1_vUWA). And on Youtube HERE (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=83XreGMOLnw&feature=related). Featured in the next issue of The Mini Experience in Australia. It's even mentioned on this site HERE (http://www.16vminiclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=21283&highlight=minissan).

So, if you want people to see all of your hard/creative work, a name change might make some sense.

Fastclown,

Do you have a build thread posted anywhere? it would be interesting to read through the process and formulation of ideas you used. JS
