lol. I love the fact that marital nagging even transcends motorsport! Check out 8 minutes onwards, it would seem that his missus is giving him earache. lol

I just been out in a raly Nova in yorkshire that sounds just like that, the guy was letting me see how it goes before selling the running gear, he`s got 154bhp coming out of a c16se 8v, its built by the bogg brothers (yes that is the real name, google it) and its on R1 carbs with a full race cam and close ratio box

Is the engine /box for sale? I'd be interested if it was..
Mr Hatt

Hi Revingtosh yes it was for sale till I went out in it and now its in bits in me garage, its got a lightened ballanced flywheel, forged pistons, Bosch distributor and coil conversion (so no ecu), Janspeed four two one and Yam R1 carbs on a custom made manifold, the cam has seen better days so I need to find another Kent NV063 Supersport and one bore is scored from a dislodged gudgeon pin so might need to replace block (if I rebore I will need to buy new pistons) but bloody good haul for £450 and he was 2009 champion in his class with it so should be bloody quick in a Mini, I dont know how much lighter than a redtop this is but I bet it equates to about 20 to 30 bhp difference, what do you run at moment/

Just as a side note I was told to find this link on YouTube to see what a similar spec Nova was capable of against a scooby on an Irish rally stage
(looks like its capable of starting another war by the sound of it)

I thought it sounded familiar! I'm willing to bet he has a set of Jenvey throttle bodies on it. It seems to handle better than mine though :(

hi and welcome to the family.....mini sounds awsome in the vid
as Quadra said some pic's and info would be great
Hello, it's the nagging wife here :D
Just to explain that the reason i nag so much is because if i don't we tend to crash! My first event we rolled and ended up on our roof on fire, i think the next crash was doing 60mph head on into a granite wall, i had a mouth full of blood, Mark reckoned if i wasn't hollering at him so much i wouldn't of bit down on my tongue! Ive just recovered from a fractured skull and that in car footage was my first event in 18 months so i was trying (unsuccessfully) to get him to go easy on me.
I haven't got a clue about the car, i bought it as a wedding present for him 15 years ago (paid £100) and he's gradually evolved it over the years to what it is now, i know its on jenvey's and up on 15" wheels, i get dragged out into the workshop in the early hours to applaud the latest development! My valentine's day treat was a bottle of wine and a pizza in the workshop so we could take the gearbox out, my husband is so romantic.
No doubt he will come on later and let you know all the spec, we use it for rallying and sprinting where we both double drive, we have great fun with it, we also have a red top vauxhall astra but that one doesen't come out to play very often as the mini is much more fun.
How do i go about putting pictures on? Mark doesn't do computers so i suspect that will be left for me to do
Cheers, Nick
Meant to also say, sorry about the rear view mirror, it was our first time with the camera and we completely forgot to take it down, plus we haven't worked out how to do do the audio yet (not a bad thing mind, as my pace notes are bl**dy awful)

Welcome to the site Mark and Nick, look forward to some more details of the car and hopefully some more videos in the future.
Nick, I think you will find that wine and pizza in a workshop is the height of romance;)

Hi Nick and Mark sorry about my reference to the nagging wife, this is one of those times when I wish the ground would open up and swallow me, respect to the pair of you though for brilliant driver control and codriver determination, its great that you both are involved, I bought our car/project as a present for Karen, my wife, so we can play brum brums together, she loves Mini`s and I just like to go fast, dont complain about the Pizza and whine, I once bought my wife a chain saw for valentines day because she was remodeling our garden at the time, what??
Not been in the 16v Mini club for long myself but what a great bunch of guys, you will love it, cant wait to see your tech specs and some photo`s
regards Steve

I have an ex-wife somewhere and everytime someone mentions nagging thats the sort of subconscious spelling mistake I start making, do you think i need help?? or just more beer
Hello to everyone, nice to meet you all. The mini in the in-car video is my clubman which i have owned for about 15 years. It's evolved a quite a bit over the years. I went 16v because doing the syncros every 2 or 3 rallies got a bit wearing!!!. I went k series because i've always liked the engine, (got my own garage and all we ever do to them pretty much is head gaskets). Anyway the spec is ; watsons frame, avo 2 way coil overs, 1600 motor, forged pistons, ma dog box, plated diff, corsa electric column ,mgf rack (2.8 turns instead of metro 3.6) 195bhp 132lbs, head is a weird thing i bought made by ptp with downdraught ports cast in from new, but it works really well. Jenvey dth bodies, dta ecu. makes 8500 rpm and sounds a bit like a bike motor. Up on 15s with ap 4 pots up front with 290 discs. The back end is a part me part watsons tubular trailing arm set up with coil overs, mk 4 golf rear discs and hubs etc.Is still a bit of a handful if its rough but is pretty competitive. 8th overall last time out with a few evos and imprezzas behind us.They are'nt overly keen on that though!!. I do enjoy flying the mini flag though and the spectators seem to love it,especially if you are having 'a bit of a go'!. I keep promising it a reshell cos it is super tired and fancy trying to pick up an ex miglia shell but havent found one yet. Will try to get some pics up soon.

Hi Mark & Nick,
Did you see white Suzuki Swift Gti on that event?
My mate Andy drives that Swift.
You car looked very quick.
I wish my mini will be as quick as my mate's swift when I finish building it.

Nagging wife here again:wink: actually Steve i found your comments hilarious, i work in a garage full of men and as a result have a very quirky sense of humour. The chainsaw sounded like an unusual gift! Over the years my better half has given me:- racing tyres, a wheelbarrow, a dog toilet, a rubber catsuit with a pot of talcum powder to go with it, and recently for mothers day i received a shovel and a broom, sometimes i think i married a very practical man who is a perverted lunatic
Joking aside, we love sharing the same hobbies, he's really mean to me when we go racing and ignores all my pacenotes, we normally get 1/2 way round before i get a sh*tty on and tell him to find his own f-ing way round then go quiet for the rest of the lap. I get my own back as we also have horses, i ride hell for leather jumping anything that i can knowing that his horse will follow mine regardless of what Mark wants, since fracturing my skull it's left me deaf in one ear so i blame it on that. LOL
Can anyone point me in the right direction with regards to photo's, do i have to use photo bucket or such like?
No doubt we will be getting a divorce soon as now he has discovered this forum i expect i will see him even less than i do now, unless i venture out to the workshop naked perhaps! If anyone would like to take him on please make me an offer
Thanks for all your kind comments, but can i be naive and ask what a sausage jockey is? I'm a dim Cornish maid and i've never heard that one before xxx

Hi Andy could you tell Nick the best way to get those photo’s on the here please, play your cards right and we might get one that includes the rubber cat suite and talcum powder!!
OH MY GOD, SCRUB THAT!!!! I just read Nicks reply again and realised that Mark only gives presents that are actually things he wants for himself ??? It’s left me with a very disturbing picture in my head that’s “just not right”
Kind regards steve

Firstly you'll need to upload the photos to Photobucket or some other similar provder.
From Photobucket you would highlight & copy the IMG Code and paste this line into your thread on the 16vminiclub site.
I have copied the IMG Code from one of my photos from Photobucket;
[I*M*G]http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x109/Minifixation/Pictures008.jpg[/I*M*G]
but where I've got [I*M*G], the proper version would not have the * & then magically a photo will appear.
......... hopefully this makes sense.
Hi, right am going to try to upload some, havent got many photo's of the mini sorry! If i can find it there is one of Mark in the cat suit Steve!!! ho hum :p

Hi Atchi
Yeah i think i remember the swift you mean, pretty sure he was leading the 1400 class utill his driveshaft broke? Our mate used to have a swift GTi and they're surprisingly swift in standard form. Will your mate be doing the TSH in May?
Cheers, Nick

Hi again Nick pleased to see your talking to me after the nagging thing, Karen rekons you have a brilliant job with all those guys if you get to boss them all round?? she says its a sheepdog thing, one sheep is easy to control but making a whole group go in the direction you want is much more fun?? I think that list of presents just seems to be stuff Mark actualy wanted for himself which troubles me a bit because there was a very disturbing item in there for a guy, it begs the question; What the hell does a real bloke want with talcum powder??? he`s not actualy a sausage jockey is he??? (see Profanisaurus under S) I did not think there were any Chutney Miners in Cornwall.
Moving on before we atract a whole different audience to this forum I note your request for someone to take Mark on for you but doubt if there will be any takers looking at your list of crash`s and history of very serious injury, my god woman do you think we all have a [U]deaf[U]wish? I had to laugh when you mentioned that Marks horse had to go wherever yours did, I guess its like one of those tagalong bicycles where one hooks on the back of the other? I dont know much about horses but I think I saw one in a field the other day, the second one was connected by a large rod, better go before I get removed kind regards Steve
pippy
27-03-2010, 07:44 PM
he did say very slippy! lol
The catsuit really was for me Steve, he regularly buys me lots of NICE outfits to wear, the most recent was a pink nurses outfit as he has just had a knee op and is on crutches, Florence Nightingale i'm certainly not. Haven't got the patience to be sympathetic but at least i can look good!
The talcum powder was because i had to wear the suit and drive 80 miles to take the engine to our machining chap (he's a very shy man who gets easily flustered and we wanted to get a reduction on fees) and it was to stop me getting hot and sweaty en route, never mind what would happen if i'd broken down  The farmers down our way would have had a huge shock, probably their 3rd ear would of fell off (inbred symptom)
Just to add, the fractured skull wasn't from the many car crashes we have had, horse threw me off, i had a nice helicopter ride but was unconcious for a few days so don't remember it. Our funniest car crash was when we were on our roof, on fire, the marshalls were screaming at me to get out but Mark kept saying 'stay there honey, you're fine', 3 times he said it before i dropped my belts, landed on my head then ejected myself through the window, he said after 'it was a safe fire, why the panic', well when you're in a mini and you see the flames coming you realise theres not a whole lot of space between you and the fire!
And the boys at work don't like working with me, i normally get stuck with the boring office side but occaisionally i will put my overalls on, problem is im 5ft tall, they are all 6ft, so when im doing something underneath a car on a ramp and i need a hand they hate having to work with me, they normally end up on their knees!!!
Do you and your missis race your cars? We double drive the mini at sprints and have great fun.
Mr Hatt

Hi Nick Karen and I dont race but I am thinking of building a race Mini and giving it a go, I totaly rebuilt a 95 sprite 1300i for her two years ago and I have worked in some top racing teams over the last 15 years but I had a change of direction a couple of years ago and realy miss it so we sold the Sprite three months ago and started collecting bits for a project. I am the idiot in the helmet before a test session at Brands, my driver is very good but a bit lairy for my liking, if you cant guess who it is I will send another clue later kind regards stevehttp://http://i804.photobucket.com/albums/yy328/bluemincool/PICT0058.jpg

The paint finish on your car is superb! Lovely looking machine.
When we first had ours painted it gleamed for all of 3 days and then we got embroiled on our first stage with a darian on a gravel stage!!! Lost the screen, headlights and fibreglass bonnet in one fell swoop, the touch up stick wasn't big enough to cope
Is the driver possibly Matt Neil Halfords Team???

You are spot-on Mark it is Matt, I worked with Matt and Dan at Team Dynamics through all three championship wins, here we are with Dan and me with the championship trophy at Silverstone, I know what you mean about sending shiny cars out and get knackered ones back in; http://i804.photobucket.com/albums/yy328/bluemincool/teamdpic.jpg http://i804.photobucket.com/albums/yy328/bluemincool/PICT0080.jpg http://i804.photobucket.com/albums/yy328/bluemincool/PICT0039.jpg
