Hi

I have been offered some type R cams. How will i know that they are type R ones? Any suggestions? Also I might be able to get a type R box with LSD. again how will i know that it is a type R gearbox. Does anyone know the number that will be on the box? And will it bolt straight on to my B16a2 engine?

Thanks Paul C

B16 and 18 R cams do fit, and will seriously improve your standard 16 performance, ideally the ecu will need re mapped :) ask Nominous on www.hondacrx.co.uk/forum

Darren,

From looking at the final drive post about the gearing. Which gears would be best to use or/can i mix the two gearboxes together to get a nice cruising top end speed and still have good acceleration?

What is a good price for a type r box and any idea what a pair of cams would be worth?

going buy what ive seen on other sites the box is worth £250+ and the cams are £300+ .you can identify the gearbox with the numbers printed on the top of the box where the breather hole is ,thats if the sticker has come off ,it will also have lsd printed on the clutch housing

As you can see by my gallery today i sold the civic to a new owner.i got some cash for it and have part exchanged it for a type R box with a broken gear box casing and a pair of cams which i am told are type R too. The plan is too fit the type R box internals into the standard B16A2 gearbox housing and fit one of geoff's final drives to it. But that is a long way away yet. Has anyone heard when the new final drives will be available?

Today has been a great day! :D :D 8)

When i use the type r box will the standard civic vti driveshafts fit straight in it? I am about to sort my driveshafts out but it just dawned on me that i might need different ones. Does anyone have any ideas? The box has YSK2 stamped on the casing and it has LSD E3D printed on it. Does this confirm that it is a type R box?

Thanks again

Paul

Thanks Darren I'll have a look later. If it is a type R box will i need to get different driveshafts?
