I'm after a standard filter box for my 1.4 MPI. My local scrappy has loads of rovers breaking, but you are not allowed to walk around the yard.

I'll need to ask them to remove the filter box from the correct Rover car.

Is there a list of rovers that have 1.4 MPI engine or just a car with a compatible air filter box?

This might also be handy for those looking for suitable K-series engines.

1.4 - Rover Metro/100, 200/25, 400/45
1.6 - Rover 200/25, 400/45
1.8 - Rover 200/25, maybe 45? 75, MGF, and turbo'd in the 75
These are the k16 rovers i can think of, off the top of my head - I think the airboxes were more or less the same on all of the cars, the only differences being the way they mount to the bodywork. I think the intake sizes were the same on all models

Thanks Andy,

I'm really looking for Rovers that are Multipoint Injection rather than Single. I think that your list would cover both.

Those are the ones with multipoint, as far as i know, the only 16v engine with spi was the metro/100

some early rover 214's had single point too. there was one in a possible donor car when i was looking for a multi point! strange how nobody seems to want single point  just go for a late rover 214, 414 something like that just make sure its k series and not a honda engine or whatever other rovers had.
and could be wrong here but i think the alloy and plastic manifolds had different sized throttle bodies so the hose may be different, most are plastic but early multi points had alloy.

ive never heard of a scrappy that doesnt let you look around, there have been numerous times ive wondered around not knowing the exact part that i want until i see it, or going with the intention of buying a specific part and then finding some other gem lurking in the corner

i would have thought they lose more on lost sales than they would from people nicking dust caps, evo

find a better scrappy

its all to do with insurance and claims made against them so they dont leave you walk around anymore

:( Nothing more fun that poking about a scrappy's looking for odds and sods. I hate how we're slowly addopting the American attitude - if I hurt myself on your land\product\something cos I'm a numbnutts... I'll sue. Bah!

the yard i go to most is proper old school, "yeah mate your cars the 3rd one up on that pile.. yeh, the one that looks like its guna toppel with the other car ontop of it. btw, watch your head that car on the fork-lift truck is comeing your way.." you know, the kind of place where they remove petrol tanks wiht the oxy-act torch.

like an adventure playground at my local scrappy, they have a section were cars that are layed out instead of piled up so there easy to get into to pop the bonnet or get interior bits. but usualy the bits your after are up the back of a row in a car about to fall off the heap, been a few times i had to release the back seats and crawl in through the boot, or if the back seats dont fold down find a bit of pipe make sure nobodys about and quietly smash a window (not easy) or if the windows are open try and climb on the roof and slide though the window while trying not to upset the balance. good fun :D
then theres the skips full of engines and gearboxes! tell them your after a manifold heater, just take a look in the skips they say. the things are piled high, getting bits is like playing jenga, pull the wrong bit and you end up under a pile of engines! health and safety? whats that? :D

Warning to anyone wanting a standard Air Filter.

I bought one out of a rover 214 and it looks almost alike. However, they are a little too different and don't fit. on top of that, my Scrappy is miserable scrote, so I'll have to put it down to experience....

Anyone want a slightly used Rover 214 airfilter....

halfords do a enclosed corbon filter type effort, yes its shit, but its only £60 and according to my map readings there is no pressure drop across it from 1000RPM to 7kRPM at WOT on a 1600k. so does the job nicely.
