either or Geoff, Proban suit is fine until 2012 if you already have one. Proban is a cheaper suit as its single layer but perfectly suited to what we do until the MSA nobbers say otherwise:D

Hey Guys , i'm a new boy to the forum & just putting together a KAD 16v to go in my Mini & i have spotted the DEWS speed series in Mini World Mag it takes in Sprints & hillclimb events , it seems it does not matter where you live you can just join the club & register then send in your results , i found them very helpful & the classes seem to cater for most varients , take a look www.dewsc.org.uk for details .. i have just registered and now i must get my finger out and finish the car !!

Allan

There were two events (am & pm), the same as last year ........ so you scored 2 lots of 6 points after caning everyone.

Allan McD
14-06-2010, 09:51 PM
So it was the same track am and pm but it was run as two evets ?

There is no mention anywhere that it was to be run as two events :verymad:

You're right about that.

I just copied what we did last year, so maybe I'm in the wrong with the scoring.

How was your trip to Loton BTW?

Allan McD
14-06-2010, 10:05 PM
Loton wasnt so good I spun on the second corner of practice and lost the run.
On the second run I realised it was because of my latest front shock mod (soft springs) because there were a few BIG crashes that was all the practice I got.
On Sunday I fixed the shocks but was a bit cautious on the first run then it rained for the rest of the day :(
Allan

Andy_S

Here's the corrected scoring for the last weekend.

I've added Mike & Lawrence back into the points now that we're on a single scoring basis.

Allan

Andy's results spreadsheets for this year have always shown that there were going to be two seperate events at each round at Barkston Heath - the same as last year!

Allan McD
14-06-2010, 10:27 PM
What relevence has Andys spreadsheets ?
They were prodused after the first round was by.
I supose we could have points for every lap we have done at every event.
Allan

Mark D

so maybe I'm in the wrong with the scoring.

I think we do need to look at this as I will say Allan, but it could be anyone who does not do the barkston rounds. They could be disadvantaged if it is run as 2 rounds. I think 13th June should just be one round as it was the same track and if at any future events the track is changed at lunchtime then the winner is taken from the average of your 2 fastest times.

Andy_S
14-06-2010, 10:47 PM

Allan

I can produce a score chart based on that approach if you give me a day or so

Last year we only included the 'double header' after discussing it between ourselves at Barky Heath. This year I just 'assumed' to do the same, but if we look at Marks list of events, none of the Barky trips are shown on a double basis.

I've been in touch with the FIA and they think we should give the trophey to Michael Schumacher, but when I explained that he wasn't involved they told me to f,u,c,k off. The championship is still wide open on the above basis, 3 events left & 3 points between Richard & Allan ............. love it :-D.

Andy_S

Over-ruled.

You get half points for each, just in case of a breakdown on one of the runs.

Mark D
14-06-2010, 10:50 PM
Andy i've also noticed that your scoring is wrong, you win 1 point for each member that you beat but you have laurence down for 2 points, Allan does not count because he had not entered and i dont count because i never did a timed run.

see point number r4

The sprint championship is being run using events organised by the Auto66 club in scarborough (www.auto66.com). The events use circuits such as Olivers mount in scarborough, teesside autodrome, harewood, 3 sisters, croft, elivington and sometimes cadwell and runs through out the summer.
The championship is open to all members of the 16V mini club and invited guests. Whilst there is a serious side to motorsport this championship is being run and organised to promote a bit of comerardery between members and as a social gathering so dont expect massive trophys or prize money. There will however be a trophy for 1st overall which is kindly being donated by Geoff at Watsons and maybe a small sponsorship from Matt G and the 16v mini shop . The championship is also being covered by the new mini video magazine so come and get yourself famous.
As in any form of motorsport we do have entry rules alongside those of the RACMSA but wont be overboard on them. At the present time these are:
1) Competitors must be either a member of the 16v mini club or an invited guest.
2) 16v mini club stickers must be displayed where they can be seen on each side of the vehicle or 1 on the front
3) vauxhalls get a 10 second time penalty (only joking)
4) points are awarded for each championship member that you beat on the day, so if 5 people are racing on the day last place will get 1 point and 1st place will get 5 points.
5) to help keep the costs down a little the winner will be determined by adding together your best 6 scores from the 11 events.
6) Depending upon the number and type of entries we may run 2 classes for road legal cars and non road legal cars

Mark D

I'm scoring that you get 7 points for winning if 7 cars enter, I'm not not counting any cars who do not enter, but I am counting your car as it entered but failed to finish. This way you get 1 point for finishing last as long as you post a time.

Have a look at my DNF from day 1 at Ollies, I get zero points, but Geoff still gets 2 points. This is exactly the same scoring as last year & everyone was happy then.

Mark D
14-06-2010, 11:08 PM
ah, ok, i thought you had counted me and allan as 0 and 1, then started laurence on 2. Your right with me not getting a point as i failed to post a time.

So is everyone happy that we change the regs to include a half point scoring system if there is a track change at any of the circuits.

picKup
15-06-2010, 07:39 AM
What about a sort of multiplier for the amount of timed runs in a given event. That way if a day is split into 2 events it does not matter. But the emphisis is on the events that you should get more runs at!

EG same points as in the table, then multiply by the number of timed runs.

So Andy would get 7*2= 14 for the AM
and 7*3=21 for the PM

Just a thought!

Mike

Allan McD

Over-ruled.

It makes no ods to me as long as we know long before the meeting.
I chose not to run at Barkston after the date was changed as I am running in a championship at Loton.
If its double points or half points so be it as long as we know then we can all make decisions on that basis.
Allan

I dont think any event should carry double points unless it is held on a seperate day such as olivers mount. If it's double points it would seriously disadvantage anyone who cannot make it. I think half points is the best idea.

1 day of racing = 1 full set of points ....... simples!

Appologies for causing this protracted debate.

The confusion has only arrisen after the Barky event because I 'assumed' to adopt the same approach as last year (which was only agreed on the day).

The fact is that we hadn't agreed in advance to count double points this year & so I shouldn't have made that assumption.

............. and give her a good :megasquirt:?

I'm struggling for time to refit the carbs due to family holiday and also there's now no-where sensible to fit the MBE ecu for the carbs & the fuel sysytem is swirled with LP & HP pumps. :(

If I solve the ITB issues tomorrow then I'll attempt to get a late entry for Ollies, but with the spluttering misfire he's currently got at higher revs I'd deffo be faster driving Pikey up the hill.

............. still considering sneaking the carbs back on next week, but that would really feel like a failure.

Probably I'll just test run the car in the garage using the PaulW rolling road, IE 2 big blocks of wood under the front, wheels off & a bit of brake effort to simulate rolling resistance.

Our oldest son, Phil and wife Kerry are camping over with us so we are prob going into Scarborough for an evening meal.
The ARB is finished, are you still interested?

Paul, did you see that you are first of the pack again

It's going to be interesting to see how the best 6 scores rule works, there could be 7 or 8 points to play for!!

The fwd trophy is a close thing, if there are 7 points to play for i think we can asume alan will take the 7 points making him the overall winner but fwd class is tight between andy and richard. Richard has 6 events in already so if he comes in 2nd will drop 2 points and replace them with 6, if andy then gets 5 richard wins but if andy gets 6 points richard will drop 2 points and only gain 5and andy wins. It's going to be better then then watching the F1.

Too true Mark. Allan has just got to turn up and he has got the championship, no probs.
FWD class however is tight. Being realistic though I have only beaten Andy once this year, at Ollies Mount in May, when he was having problems with his front suspension. I blew my chance by not being fast enough at Ollies in August
He loves Barkston Heath and always manages to make it round a fraction of a second faster than me. Thats why we are going back this weekend for some practice (and fun)

Hey guys, this years championship was even closer than I thought.

I've made an application to the FIA with regards to the points which are scored for an event where you enter but break your car before getting a time.

The big question is, do I get a point at Olivers Mount on 1st May when my car broke on second timed practice or do I get zero for being rubbish?

................ Max Mosely is coming back to me in the next few days.

Just shows how close things were this year  (I know it can't count cos it would be my 7th score, but Richard will read the other bit & poo himself)

Can't wait for it all to start agian. :D

Thats a pity because that point would have doubled your points and would have made you last equal insead of last in your own right ;) ;)
Dont cry Mark things can only get better :D

But i've had a funtaastic year coming last Allan, i may have been last but i've enjoyed every minute of achieving it, it's just one rule for one and all that.
