Hey all i hopefully fingers crossed will be purchasing a suzuki gti engine and box etc soon and have both a square nose and a round nose to chose from to put it in
dont want to turbo or anything just looking foward to smooth reliable 5 speed with a bit of GO
how much easier is it to use the clubby if not much difference i would prob prefer the roundy to be used

Thanks in advance

I'm gonna go out on a leg here and say my opinion, even tho I've not built a valver Mini - All steel fixed front, think your best bet is a Clubman for the sake of ease due to more space. Think I've seen 2 or 3 round fronted Suzuki Minis. Suppose the engien isn't any bigger, if at all, than Vauxhall C16SE? Thats easily done in a round front from what I've read.

Now I'll let the real people say their bit... the people with experience!

Yeah thanks for the input
i know it will be harded just wondering how much harder i mean i have heard that brake and clutch master cylinders may have to be relocated
the other thing is i would like it to be possible to carry out maintenance without removing engine for oil filter changes etc
i dont want to do a flip front

Hi,

Are you keeping it std?
If you are fitting R1(bike carbs) like myself, then you will need to relocate all master cylinders.
Also, which mark is your engine come from?
Is it Mk1, Mk2 ph1, ph2 or Mk3?
Both Mk2 and Mk3 are more or less same but I have been told that Mk3 ECU is better.
If you can get hold of Mk1, it will be btter still.
Mk1 has mechanical controlled Dizzy and Mk2 on has ECU.
Also, I have been told mk1 had better gearbox as well as smaller.
Engine mounts and gearbox mounts are different position and I have both Mk1 and mk2 engine and there are so many tapped holes to chose from.
Mk1 Gearbox has mount under it and if you can get a beam, it will be easier to mount than mk2 type.

I can only say from my experience from building (still building) my own but if you have Clubman, I will go with that due to space inside.

My build is stopped at the moment due to gearbox need rebuild and waiting for my modded cylinder head.

As soon as I get all above items...... time will tell  .

Good luck

yeah i still havent got it but the one which i am prob getting is a Mk2 i know the mk1 is meant to be better suited but i am sure this one can be done also
i want to keep it fairly standard maybe just better exhaust and air filter and chip maybe its comming with bigger injectors
i dont need mind blowing speed more looking foward to quick quiet smooth 5 speed for trips and work
i am thinking roundy
are you using carbs?? i thought they were fuel injected

Hi,

Yes they are injection but I have fitted Yamaha R1 carbs.
For this I needed Mk1 setup to run with them.
I'm not keen on injection and ECU stuff, due to me not knowing what to do.
I also have Suzuki sports LSD, Suzuki sports camshaft, under drive pulley and Vernier adjustable cam drive pulleys.

I just wanted my mini to be as close to original set up as possible.
Well, as in setup....simple way...but with 5 speed and 16v head.

Cheers

yep mine is comming with underdrive pully and adjustable cam gears
i like the idea of electronic fuel injection etc i will just have to get a pro to tune it

5 speed in mini i cant wait :P
