due to the fact there is sweet fa space for my alternator to fit under the front end im relocating it under the wing, only thing is due to there being a smidge of missalignment that cant be corrected the multi v belt type belt wont stay on so i need a single v type crankshaft pulley instead.
but heres the question, was there ever a single v type k series pulley fitted to engines or will the mini one fit?

could you not pack the pully out? or use a 3 "v" belt and put it at the extremes of both pullys? if that makes sence? i run a 3 "v" belt, no problems...
was limbing around scrappy's yesterday and im quite sure your outa luck, your best be twill be the old carb'd 8v k-series metro's ..

kind of sorted now, the missaligment was because of the timing cover getting in the way so took it off, now the alternator fits but i need to modify the timing cover!
be much easier with a single v pulley but (acording to the mini guy) k series's never had them and pickup cheated and turned his pulley down on a lathe...TESTICALS!!

can you not grind a bit off your alternator too to gain soem clerance?? long as the bearing carrier and the coils are untouched should be ok..
btw i turned my pully down for my ford EDIS rung by running the engine at 3.5kRPM and holdign an angle grinder to it  worked though.

problem is that as the belts going up the way instead of to the front of the car its rubbing on the timing cover and engine mount, so thats why i had to take the top half of the timing cover off, and a bit of jiggery pokery (and a die grinder) cleared the engine mount (big red bit)

could realy do with the pulley being about 5mm further out or have the single v were it can take a bit of missalignment.
interesting take on turning btw :P

The reason I went for a vee belt on the pickup was because I used an ordinary mini alternator - quite a bit smaller than the metro one and with a bit of grinding it fits snugly up against the block.
With the front panel cut to clear it just fits into a round nosed front (fixed)

you might have your engine a smidge further back than mine as no matter how much of the block rib bits that were ground off the alternator (suzuki vitara) would just fit and no more, but then there would be problems with tensioning the belt and would need to fit some kind of jocky wheel assembly to do it. i did just go by measurements though as i didnt fancy chopping the block up for nothing! redesignd my huge bracket and seems to be fitting a lot better now.
