Is there not a nice looking Smiths Rev counter that goes to 10000,

Look here: http://shop2.minispeed.co.uk/index.cgi?task=showproduct&id=ms-sib122mg

Sorry - dont know how to connect it though

I think the bullet is the pulse from the coil but I'm not 100% sure BUT depending on what year your car is (ie post 80ish) the connections for the rev counter should be in the loom behind the dash. Switch on the ignition and use a test light to find the live. If its the spade, thats where you connect the live to. I'd assume the ECU you're using will have a revcounter pulse wire or else the coil pack would have a connector to connect to the other connection on the back of the revcounter.

Don't know if any of that is any help ?

It wont go bang its just a moving coil.

Spade connector on back of clock connect to a positive live +12v (when ignition is on), bullet connector on clock connect to the neg side of coil, and then earth the shell of it.

Please let me know if you work out where the negative feed comes from!

Also, how are you managing to connect your speedo? Can you use smiths ones? I have a 130mph smiths clock in my mk1 style retro dash, i was hoping i wont have to change it for a digital ugly thing :(

i few years ago i fitted a vauxhall revcounter into a mini speedo so the speedo and the rev counter lookeds the same, all i did was to take the back of the vauxhall unit and remove the back off the mini speedo and put the parts of the vauxhall rev counter on the dial. I know yours is a honda but im sure the same principles could be applied, even if the readings on the revcounter arent exact at least it will look correct and you should get used to knowing how much your revving after abit. hope that helps. joe.
