in very early stages of the a 16v mini conversion

the mini is a 1985 mini convertible. and that is it at the moment nothing in the car just a bare shell, so there is a fare bit of work do before it feels some tarmac

i managed to find a donor vertra(1.8 16v ecotec) that was donated to the cause, and i had a mini for the rest of the mini spares.

as to date all ive managed to do is strip the old mini,
pull the engine out of the vectra.
cut the front end off of the new and old mini's
turned the front end into 1 complete unit bu welding the bonnet closed and filling it
and removed both sub frames on the two cars

thats about it for the moment
but will keep you all up to date as best as i can

and suggestions or comments will help so please feel free to leave some and i will be putting up some more pics later

thanks for viewing

hi guys

just a quick question..... on the vauxhall engine there are loads of wiring and plugs.
will i have to connect all of them or only the main one's?

i am in the process of removing the wiring loom from the vectra so will have the plugs but im just wondering if they ALL need to be connected

thanks

im really finding it hard to believe that NO ONE knows this answer to this question.

all the people who have done a vauxhall conversion had to do something about the wiring,

not to worry
im sure ill figure it out on my own

thanks ( or maybe not ) ( to be polite )

most of the engine plugs will need to be connected... but allot of others dont.

best bet is to lay the whole loom on the ground next to the mini , get the engine running , and slowly unplug/ cut off things that are not connected. ..

good man Matt thanks for the reply.

I thought it would be something like that ( trial and error )

you would not know if i only need the wires up to the computer box or do i need the ignition wires ???

i have got all the plugs connected and the only ones left r the wires for the starter and the alternator.

thanks again Matt
