Hi peeps, I was having a conversation with a mate yesterday who's into his boats and stuff - and he came up with what could be an excellent donor for an engine:
1220cc Supercharged 200hp See-doo wetbike engine.
Anyone looked at these?
It's not my kettle of fish- I just thought it might be interesting for you bike engined boys.
I looked at my mates jet ski engine - a Yamaha.
I can remember thinking how compact they were.
How would the gearbox work? A Quaife?

there is a fellow here in the states, minnesota to be exact, building a mini with a mercury outboard boat engine and he is planning on using a tranny from a polaris 4 wheeler so he can have awd, should be plenty loud if he ever gets it done.

How light is the Mini & how much power is he putting though the Polaris transmission? The gearboxes themselves are basic having non-synchro & at most high, low & reverse ratios. The real gearing is done by a CVT belt like an old DAF Variomatic car, I take it he's using that too? I dont think much of the front diff for use in a car, I dont think much of them in the bikes! I think it'd be harder to find the strong link rather than the weak link!
Fair play to the bloke though, I'm all for something a bit different!
