Which manifold

Hi...... Here comes the first of many questions.

At the moment funds allow me to get an upgraded manifold so which is best?

I've been looking at the Moto-build site and they sell a '4 into 2 into 1' but is unbranded.

What about a maniflow one?

Any ideas.

Umm. Dont know on this one really. I'm using the cast manifold that came with the engine, although later GTis used a tubular one.

I tried to find out about the 3rd party ones, Janspeed do one too I think, because, from the pictures Ive seen, they all seem to protrude from the engine futher than the standard items. Of course this is not desirable due to the lack of space up front.

If you are feeling clever, you can get a flange from Demon Tweeks, and make one yourself. Another thing I might do in future, but as yet don't feel the gains are worth the hassle.

If you do get one I'd love to know if it fits in the same space as the original one...

The tubular manifold from the GTI or 214/414 mpi engines isn't too bad if you clean the welds up from the where the tubes join the upper flange (and put extra welds on the outside to stop it falling apart)
The added bonus of the tubular job is that it can be cut, bent etc to suit the limited space.
