Minja is just about complete, so I decided to show a few of the latest pictures.

Left Front:
(The colour is kinda' bled out in this shot.)

Left Rear:
(This is closer to the real colour - Ferrari Racing Red.)

(That's a high-level LED brake light on the rear parcel shelf - the tail-lights are LED lights also.)

Inside - Driver's Side:

It has been a long process, but now it is nearly done.

Looks amasing. Love it.

However, I don't know if anyone has pointed this out, but you've made a mistake! The steering wheel is on the wrong side

external hinges on mk3 doors.. i haven't seen that before !:)

Sorry, I have been under the weather for a while.... actually, damn near under the ground... really sick... but recovering.

Yes, the gearshift is about the best that you can imagine... just a quick jerk backwards for up-shifts and a quick stab forward for down-shifts and it is always in the right place... the next step is voice-activation... :-)

This Ferrari "racing red" paint only shows orange in bled-out photos... in natural light it is so red it hurts your eyes.

Dave and Colin at KAD modded the late-model doors for MkI hinges... the doors are carbon-fibre, but Dave molded in metal window frames all around to give a really solid door that shuts and seals nicely... something that other composite doors don't always do so well.

The other mod that really sets her off is the three tail-lights... the two normal MkIs and the one up on the rear valence... they all have ultra-bright LEDs and will melt your grille if you are too close... :-)

I am extraordinarily pleased at their work and extremely proud of the end result.

i love this! its awesome 8)

I too have LEDs in my mk1 rear lights :D and yeah, they are MEGA bright!

Thats the carbon version of my dash. How was it too fit? it looks as though you've cut even more than i did from the 'pod' section of it. I didn't like hacking about the fibreglass version... i dont think i would've been able to cut the carbon one!

There were two choices with the dash:
1. Fit it behind the roll cage as shown, or
2. Move it rearward so that it covers the front roll cage brs.
I'm a big ol' thing so it was best to keep the dah as far forward as possible... simple choice really. I didn't have to do the cutting... Dave at KAD did it so he took the deep breath... :-)

We are working on setting up a test and picture session. Maybe there will be more news in the next month.

Just a couple of other bits:
1. We have not weighed the car, but estimate that it comes in at about 570kg (1254lb).
2. The Kaw engine gives about 145-147hp, depending on what print article you are willing to believe.
3. There are still a few external trim bits to fit:
a. BMC cloisonned badge on the bonnet
b. Chrome "Mini Cooper S" script on the boot
c. Twin gold pin-stipes down each side ending at BMC rosettes on the rear quarter-panels.

lovely :)

Quick question - is it a cooper shell or are you just putting the badge on cos it's bloody quick so you might as well?

only asking cos i was wondering if people would take the p*ss if i did it without mine being a real cooper... i would like to though, cooper was a total legend

It was built from a brand new MkIV Heritage shell. The log book for the rebuild is a Morris Mini-Cooper, so I don't think it is too far out of line to badge it as a Mini Cooper S... especially since I cannot find a script Z to match... Mini Cooper Z

:P

fair play...

the way i look at it, if the new BM mini is allowed to have a cooper badge, so can mine. might make it more likely to get nicked tho
