I like the site and the project. Any idea of how they did for the gear drive? Looks like the engine is biased to the one side to allow for more room around the output shaft.

I didnt go to the show so i have not seen the car in the flesh.
I thought it was worth a shot trying on here for more info!
I plan to transmit drive to a custom transfer box via a flange made from an old stock zx9 sprocket similar to how its done in my seven type MK Indy.
Will be dangling the engine in s standard subframe to see how well it fits and how much chance there is of equal length driveshafts

Not gonna sell many ov those then
Makes the pro-motive look cheap then but still a bit more than i have to spend! head scratching and my labor is free plus i have nearly all the parts to do it(hopefully)
will keep you posted on progress for constructive criticism!

Depends what you get for 8000~8500, if it's a complete conversion, drive in drive out then it's a good price, if it's just the kit then it's very expensive. lets see.

I've already dangled a zx9r in the front of a mini and quite a few others for that matter, the only one I could see that would have any realistic chance of fitting behind a standard round front mini was the 98~04 R1s not the new R1 one though, there simply isn't anywhere for the driveshafts to go other than through straight through the engine.
Pity as the zx9r is an excellent piece of kit especially the E series engine and well cheap compared to most other bike engines
Good luck with your project
Cheers

Thanks for the input minicooper, i knew it was a long shot tbh but worth a try,
i have loads of parts lying around so i can have a go for nothing!
Late model Fazer lumps are tiny as the crankcase is small and sits high up the block. I have an MK Indy with a zx9 in but next to the Fazer they look huge  You can even fit a standard airbox under the bonnet and you know how big they are!

here`s one i prepared earlier :-)

I was going to fit up 2 of these R1 power units into my race mini , one in the front & one in the back,,, but i thought i`d just whip this front engined frame up first, just to see how well it went before i butchered one of my race minis for the twin engined project.
It`s comming along pretty nice & working out ok, i just have a bit too much on my plate at the moment with all the Bimmer Twinky stuff happening at the same time, so maybe next year i`ll have this buggy sorted & fangin, then i`ll stick the other engine into the back of it after that :-)
Oh, & i will be turbo-ing both engines at a later date i expect :-)
& i`ve just purchased a set of carbon/kevlar , 3 piece wheel rims for it, i`ll get some pics of them for you all too, I`ve never felt a lighter set of wheels in my life... & they "give" or "Flex" 2 inches(ish) & spring back if you smack into something... pretty niffty hey?
Nice to see you living up to your username
Two R1 engines in something so light, I think I'd crap myself driving it
Any chance of some quick details on how you got the drive to the wheels, is it gear or chain drive ? can I see part of a mini subframe ?

yeah it`s chain driven to a swinging diff cradle, pivots at the top & then 3 big adjustment bolts down the bottom , all so i can adjust the chain & or change sprokets/ratios easy.
2x 45mm go-kart axle type self centering bearings are on each side of the diff, one for each pot joint & one for each side of the diff carrier, this way the whole lot is supported very well yet still allows the diff to work.
I had to make up a couple of stainless sleeves to size the pot joints & diff carrier up to suit the inner diam of the go-kart bearings but that`s pretty dam easy, job done & it`s probably one of the fastest accelerating 4 wheel vehicles i`ve ever driven. Soon to be turbo charged tho, as the original bike exhaust bends down & goes under the engine & restricts the ability to lower the buggy more, so that whole pipe assy is going out the window & then bung the lung onto it & lower the whole thing a good chunk :-)
the carbon fibre wheels pictured in another thread will be going onto it for super light weight & repsonsivness, so should accelerate even quicker then :-)
