I've started on one but have had too many other projects to get very far on this one. I have a BMW K series and everything looks to match up well, but a bit of work will still be required. What setup are you looking to use?

lookin at usin 1380, straight cut box, 8 valve bmw head (thats what is on my bike), either use the throttle bodies and injection or a set of webbers.

i've got the build guide and it looks simple enough, its just the tig welding to the head i will have trouble with :(

the rest just costs money (lots)

Drew.

you don`t need to tig weld anything on the head, you can use "Devcon" alloy putty & some grub screws.

go on,,, just do it,,, you know you want too :-) & turbo inject it while you`re there, might as well, it`s not much more to do & the end result will be far far better than just carbs & dizzy.

Nice looking results MadMatt. What are you using for fuel delivery?

...........and what have you done to the gearbox?
BL or Rover or whatever they were called at the time limited the Metro Turbo to under 100bhp to get some sort of gearbox reliability.
I'm sure you'll be putting out nearly twice that amount :?

Using Adaptronic ECU , high poressure fuel pump & reg, coil over igniters, sensors every-dam-where, wiring has been a 3 day bitch slapping session :-)

I`ve made a heap of JIGs for all the turbo manifolds (both road & race types) also Jigs for the dump pipes & another set of JIGs for N/A extractors so it should make it a bit easier & quicker to make a whole heap of them up later as i need them.

This gearbox in the moke is just an overhauled A+ box with slippery diff, They can handle way more power than people give them credit for, there are a lot of miths & stories goin around as to how weak they are but when they`re built well & some good stuff is used , then they don`t really propose too much of a problem on high powered minis,,, & also we`re not allways running around at full boost , foot to the floor, in top gear are we???

but i am using a full S/C C/R set with S/C drops & LSD in mine, hoping to afford another 6speed doggy box for the sports sedan race mini at a later date tho.

My turbo mini ripped all the teeth from 3rd gear with around 110bhp the box was in good order :(

Ps no more mini engines or gear boxes for me

I did all that, then the next weakest point broke - the aluminium casing that holds the bearing for the main shaft.

You've gone to a lot of bother creating a great engine set-up..I just hope you aren't going to be let down by 50 year old technology.

my 1330 with 101bhp also blew my gearbox to bits! anyone noticing a trend?! lol

I admire the engineering work going on here, make sure you post some video of when it's up and running :D

This won't be the first big power A series engine Matt has cobbled together and abused... his family is quite well known in their part of the world  They've been tinkering with Minis longer than some of us have been alive. :D

I have built a bmw conversion on a 1380cc A+ block i have had it running in my garage and its ready to go in to my car, just getting my car into a reasonable shape to fit it into. I will be posting the build and pics soon on this website and will share my triumphs and disasters with anyone who is interested.
