Hey Guys,

Just wanting to tap your collective wisdom. Just wondering what your opinions would be on a modern three pot lump being fitted to a mini. More specifically i was thinking about the (diahatsu derived?) toyota lump found in the citybug trio (Aygo/Citroen C1/Peugeot 107).

This award winning little engine is a 998cc three pot with vvti pushing a mighty 68bhp, which compares to my current 1275 (67bhp last time out on the rollers). The point of the conversion would be economy, drivability (5 gears) and reliability rather than out an out speed.

I expect the engine will become tunable in time, as more companies start to provide options for the citybugs and there is no reason why it wouldn't take a turbo or a supercharger too if i wanted it to be faster.

Just wondering what you guys think of the idea and if you think it would be worth the effort/expense.

Cheers, Tom

IIRC the engine is actually from the Daihatsu stable (Daihatsu being part owned by Toyota)

I saw a thread a while back on ausmini.com where someone was building on (think it was called something like "Sirion into Mini"). Haven't go time to look for it now but pretty sure I've still got the link on my Home computer :D

Edit

Remembered that it was on here that pointed me to it, see:-

Charade GTTi's are wicked little cars. I had one a few years back (sold it to buy my 1st MPI Cooper). For UK tuning parts check out a company called CAMSKILL. I brought a hybrid turbo for it from them for less than £400, cracking job it was too. That combined with a full scorpion exhaust made for lots of fun. I've alwys wanted to combine it's engine into a mini.............

Ive got a c1 as my temp car. The engine isn't too bad but it does sound like a lawnmower. The gtti engine sounds perfect for a mini..not seen many about tho.
