may need to sell my beloved VTEC Metro - know its not a mini - but still a well sorted bit of kit - trouble is how to value.
rather than repeat everything I have posted a link to the metropower forum for those interested.

How is Ray, havent spoken to him in ages...Lovely guy 8)
Trickey one to value, as it is fairly rare but sadly it is still a metro (that isnt meant to sound like that   )
Whats the spec of it?
How much you thinking of?

Hard to put a price on a car like this.
I think that a vtec metro would be rubbish and i will take it off your hands for £500
I saw a clean rover 100 with a vvc engine but standard everything else go for 1400 on ebay just yesterday.
I would guess at between 1750 to 2000 but its whatever someone is prepared to pay (but thats just my opinion)
I would think that ebay would be your best place to sell.

Is it a B18c4 engine setup? has it got ITBs, what engine mgt is it running? Is it a standard engine?
How much do you think it is worth? ie how much are you looking for it?
mog2244
04-07-2007, 05:11 PM
standard b16a2 - 66k only - dyno print showing 170BHP - other stuff too techy for me  Ray is known to be a bit of a genius
dont know worth - hence my posting  want as much as I can get obviously
ps speak to Ray and he will say a better allround car than his 1.8 vtec mini that was quite famouse on here apparantly

As the car has no MOT and is stripped, it can only be sold as a track car and appears to have all but a standard B16a2 engine setup.
As a track car and not a road car, the audience is very low. In addition Metros seems to sell for silly money.
Therefore I see the value based on a fast track car, so probably upper end £2500. I get the feeling you feel it is worth alot more, sorry if I have offended   and wish you all the best on the sale.
You should perhaps stick it a more track day based website.

No
quite realistic about price and about what I thought - even though it cost a lot more in real terms - i really am just trying to get a guage on what it is realisticaly worth and accept you never get back everything you put in.
at the end of the day things are only worth what someone is prepared to pay
genuine thanks for your replies

maybe it might help the sale with an mot?

will include full yrs MOT if I sell it - thanks for advice
reason no MOt was to resist temptation of racing younguns from the lights - i am 50 yr old fogie :?

Its fast, its fun and probably a lot more comfrtable than a track day Mini. Oh and it has a real boot that opens up the way and more spacious, so its rather more practical too. Only problem is, its a Metro... lacks the "60s charm" and history of the Mini. I'd imagine DarrenW has given you a rather accurate suggestion.

not a bad assessment Kev - cheers mate
as a matter of interest - what if it was a mini?

I'll leave that question to people like DarrenW, who has personal experience of selling a B16A2 Mini... I've seen all manner of prices for VTEC Minis in my couple of years of trawling this forum :D

I would say that it isnt worth that much as really a 170bhp vtec engine isnt that expensive to buy i'm sure and you can pick up a very well maintained metro gti for absolutly peanuts,
I do not mean to offend anyone especially the owner but the body has had a paint job you can see it from this picture, the door is a diff colour and the bumper colour is flat and has no depth, so the shell isn't brilliant,
But this could just be a poor picture?
HERE (http://www.metropower.co.uk/forum/forums/get-attachment.asp?action=view&attachmentid=17836url)
looking at spec the engine isnt heavily modded? correct me if i'm wrong there pls. and The brakes arent uprated I've had 3 metro gti's and one was pulling just shy of 125bhp on a 1.4 and that was scary to stop i mean SCARY I had green stuff pads and mintex discs...
If anyone else has driven a metro GTI they are just damned scary at 130mph!!
and as it stripped out it isnt a full car? I think I read interior available but its not a gti? the Si interior is terrible so this also doesnt bring value.
So this is why imho I wouldnt have give you no more than a grand? If the shell was as mint as you say ( I mean no welding ever inc new rear arches) I would maybe go to a grand and half, but again just for the engine, I'd sell the shell.
I would only buy it for the engine.
Sorry if I sounded harsh but It did say opinions please and this was mine.

No problems - everyone entitled to an opinion - one man's poison and all that.
body and paintwork 100% wrong - must be bad pic but link u posted not work so can't see what pic.
brakes absolutely brilliant - redstuff ceramic not scary at all.
compared to driving superkarts @ 140mph, 1/2 inch off floor / no seatbelt or rollcage the metro @ 130mph seems very safe to me and even considered removing speed limiter.
take it you wont be buying it then.
but once again thanks for post
Hello Darren/Tony
Hows tricks ? Im well still flat out doing trackdays, in a MK1 Golf with a vtec in it.
Garys metro is far from standard i spent a long time sorting it out, believe me it will do 59 sec round Brands and around 1min 50 sec at Cadwell.
It would make someone a top trackday car, what can you get that quick for 2.5k.
The interior is a gti one as its the one out of mine, i think you would find it hard to do this convertion for much less than 1.5k that is if you could do it yourself.
I have a 1.4 gti metro round the back and looking at doing a vtec convertion just for the crack. So funny seeing peoples faces when a metro of all things comes hammering past.
Regards
Ray

I do not mean to offend anyone especially the owner but the body has had a paint job you can see it from this picture, the door is a diff colour and the bumper colour is flat and has no depth, so the shell isn't brilliant,
