is a mini differencal immersed in gear oil???

if yes..

if you use a mini diff, drive shafts, hubs and a bike powerd mini by mating the a sproket between the drive gear and diff casing.. how would you keep it immersed in oil (you couldent) could you??
so wouldn't the diff wear VERY fast??

cheers for any help

You could weld up the holes and tap a hole for a grease nipple and then fill the diff with grease, may slow down the wear.

This is what we used for a diff on our Formula Student car for several years back in the day at uni lol. Its a mini spares evolution LSD and we just bonded in bungs on the round surfaces and top hats in the flats. We weren't worried about filling or draining it as it was opened fairly regularly for preload changes but if you were you could tap and plug one of the bungs for a fill/drain.

Fill it up but leave just a tad for heat expansion

i change my diff oil every year, but i only do one race meeting every month

the diff is a mini cone-type slippery made here in Aust by a mate (Fred Sayers) & i made a cradle to hang it in, using 4x self-centering go-kart axle bearings (2x each side),,, one to carry the diff & the other to carry the pot joints independently to allow the diff to work correctly & then added an "Orange Juice Tin" to seal it all up,. with a hole drilled into it & a bung fitted to effect oil drain & re-fill, it all seals up one end with an early mini timing chain tensioner rubber ring on one end & an o-ring on the other end
