at the begining i wolud like to apologise for my english :oops:

A couple of days ago i bought mini 1987 1.0 at firs but first owner made a swap on 1.3 .

And now i'm thinking about puting the 1.8 16 v engine from renault clio 1


Did anyone tryed to put a renault engine in mini?

is there any "how to" put 16 v engine in mini?

I do not think that anyone has put a Renault engine in to a MIni yet. but dont let that stop you, you will have to build your own frame for the engine so have a look at some homemade frames and some of the prebuilt ones and have a go.... and good luck with the build..

williams and 1.8 16 v are almoust the same.

i would like to fit this engine widouth extending the front - is it posible ?

There was one done in spain or portugal it was in the readers mini section of miniworld about 1998-2000 if I rember correctly...

Also the inlet is at the front arden style if it is the one I am thinking of.

Yes i remember the mini, it was yellow, i think it was in Malta, it had a flip front and looked a TIGHT squeeze. I used to have a clio 16v and it was a nightmare to work on, that engine was far too big for that car!
The williams uses the same basic engine and even though it only has 13 bhp more or so, the williams feels much much faster to drive.
Good luck with the conversion if you do it though.
