not a new idea but ive never seen it done.
charade 1.0 3cyl turbo, they push 100bhp and can easily be tuned to 200bhp apparentley. Although i guess this is a similar conversion to the suzuki 3 cyl turbo.

Are they 100hp out the box? Thought they were 75hp (that could have just been the American version). I think it's a good idea, small, compact and light engine with tuning potential as you pointed out. All the required bits should fit!
EDIT - reminds me, there was a video of a yellow Mini with this engine whooping a Mustang on a dragstrip :D

yeah i think they r only bout 75-80, just trying to remember a tuning guide i read from a while back.
That yellow mini was a suzi 3 pot turbo, i saved the pics a while back onto my hardrive. i guess if knowone has links to it on this forum i could post them up in suzi section.
After my suzi g13b project (and a fiesta with mr2 running gear, just some fun on the side) i think i would probably build a turbo g13b or maybe mid engined (or both :D ), i thought the charade would be good for the missis.

I was to show it in the Suzuki part of the forum, but NTL are giving me a headache over my webspace! I could send it to someone who knows details to upload stuff to their own webspace to then link it in the forums?

vid over in suzuki forum under 3 cyl frame pics heading..
The 3 cyl GTti engine (CB80) is 100bhp/100lbft standard and can easily make 130bhp on the standard ecu with downpipe, exhaust, induction and bleedvalve (set up to fuel cut)
Guys racing these engines in the UK are running 230bhp !!
The gearboxes are the weak points and can regularly shred teeth off gears tho'

Didn't De Tomaso use the 3-cyl Daihatsu motor (albeit nomally aspirated) in their version of the Innocenti Mini?

Better still, what about stuffing a 2.3 litre Triumph Rocket triple in a Mini?
I'll get my coat.
