View Full Version : Mirage in a mini?
hey guys, been part of the forum for a while but havent posted anything. i've been looking at dumping a mitsu Mirage eng/box into my '78 clubbie. think this is possible?
my cousin rallys a mirage in the Globalstar Aus-rally and his old man (my uncle) used to race minis up at Bathurst (that place the V8's now call home). my cousin recons it will fit, my uncle doesnt think so, what do you guys think???
i plan to find out eather way, but its a strong setup, and not something many have done, hence why i like the idea... let me know what you think.
basic idea is a 1400-1600cc n/a to be turbo'd later... and possibly get a DOHC 24v race head, i know where ones going spare...
chears!

Thanks! Well that inlet looks like a bit of a problem - it's going to hit the bulkhead. It looks very big, wide and heavy. Long stroke engines are not the most tunable and the cooking versions 92 bhp does not look too good. The 175 bhp version must be extended close to it's reliable limits.
I am sure you guys are able to make it fit with an extended nose but I think there are better engines TBH. How about a Suzuki? Tape measure needed I think!
yea thanks for that...
well going of what i've seen people do with the engine they can hold alot of power, and i am yet to see the engine give way its more the diff or an external accessory giving out befor they do. and the power... well in ausrally, over one of the harder weekends of the year with no turbo, and very limited budget, they run about 5-10mins behind the factory backed subaru RS's and Lancer Evo's...
i've heard that they take very well to being turbo'd too.. but hey i'm workshoping the idea at the moment, so yea thanks heaps for your veiw! :D
