hi all i took the car for a run on a bit of private road to try the brakes out
the the car drives very well most imprest the brakes worked fine for a bit then the pedel droped to the floor.so i nursed the car back home to fined i had a burst brake pipe one of the eingne mounts was shot so the eingne moved to the bulkhed and cut a pipe in two thats now fixed.but i now have an anoying oil leak just above the exhust manafold near the cam belt cover i used new gaskets when i rebuilt the top end.is this common on the Ks or have i over looked something??

IF its the cam cover thats leaking thats a 5 minute job to whip it off, clean it up and put a new one on. If its the cam carrier thats leaking thats a bit more of a bitch cos of the sealant beads. I think its pretty easy for the sealant not to sit properly and hence not seal.

you did put eh corrdect cam-seals on teh correct places? as there directional IIRC its red to the timign belt end and black to the gearbox end, but id need to check to be 100% some monkey fitted the wrogn ones on my engien, which resulted in a nice oil leak and a very oily cambelt, which i only noticed after 2kmiles of use  so lucky it didnt break.
thanks for your reply i will look at this when i work on the car today
i took the cam cover off today atlast as that is where my oil leak is coming from i cant see ow i have a leak as it was a new gasket and the car has hardly moved it could be that i did not tighten the bolts up enough.
can i use some sort of sealer as well as the stock cam cover gasket to try and stop this leak??

similar thing had happened on my zx td, as i noticed a drop in oil pressure and blue smoke occasionally, turns out the rocker cover was loose and it wasnt an uncommon problem
 fixed oil leak to all i did was to clan all mating surfaces and aplied a smear ofred hematite and toruqed it back up as per manual,it could have just been that i did not toruqe it up right the first time
