Ok found someone that can get a 2.8 CWP made up for the F20 gearbox's
If i can find 25 people i can get the price down to 300 pounds.

Ok 25 is allot .. and dont expect to get it , but i want to try.

2.8 will give 70mph/2951 rpm (60mph in 2nd at 6138rpm)

i know people use f16 etc.. but f20 are strong .. (not sure if the CWP will fit in the strong gearbox's ?)

wasent there a post here on what revs/speeds this diff will give you?
i can remember reading it, and it would be useful to give people an idea of the advantage of this cwp!

i have looked for the last 40 mins and still cant find it!!

edited above post , I dont know the exact company thats making them , i am talking to a third party who can get them made , quite well known on www.migweb.co.uk , so trust him...

he is stripping a F20 as we speak to get the CWP out , he will then get this sent off and get an exact price on it all and will get back to me,

This should take about 3 weeks (but you know how life is)
It WONT be stright cut , so will be stronger and quiter, said it will be harded (not sure exactly how) and should take about 350-400ftlb max of torque...

Matt,

I am using F16 w box, which gives me 70 mph at 3250 rpm ( or 140 mph at 6500 ish) .

I am happy with this other than, in 2nd my max speed ( to standard vauxhall rev limiter ) is 57mph which means my 0 to 60 times are not as quick as they should be !! cos i need to be in 3rd !!
For me a reprogrammed chip with higher rev limiter is the answer.

cheers chris

cheers chris , but i guess 1st gear is still useless ? and for me anyway from what i have heard the f16 will not cope with a v6 torque ... but who knows untill i try.

If this was available a yr ago i would have jumped at it, as it is now my car (when eventually rebuilt  ) will do more track than road miles and so the better road gearing is not needed.

Hiya,

If this 2.8 FD development is successful i'll take 2 as I have finally started work on my twin engine car again now the outside temps are increasing and it's actually light when I get home from work.

Matt, the bearing in the f18 wide is a hell of a lot larger than the f20 one, this in my simple mind tells me that the f18 is a stronger box, and as Chris says 70 is about 3250.

Is it really worth spending that much money to get 70 a few 100 rpms less?
