Hi people.

Anyone taken a look at GoMini's new subframe? Am I seeing right or I'm already dreaming? :D

I have a Clubman, so length is not much of a problem. It should fit well under there :D It would be nice to keep the standard width as well tho :)

The output figures on the in house builds are a bit Fruity

Kinda misleading by the odd 15 HP everywhere

I'm intrested, would you lot reccomend coilovers or simple dampers? with the Watson'e frame?

I'm from Malta Darren. I'm thinking of making a Vtec conversion next month. I'm still not sure what to do. I have metro vented brakes which hopefully should be enough. My Mini has been in the garage for nearly 4 years now and the engine is nearly dead. I've been thinking about this conversion for months but i've only recently started looking at the options available(still broke). A k series frame would cost more than i can afford at the moment and i really need a working car. I would need to change the brakes, wheels, steering, etc Things which i could otherwise re-use

DarrenW,

Not to argue, but I am in the USA, and have a USDM B16A2, and the BHP is 160. The 170 HP versions were most typically the JDM versions. All are good foundation for a VTEC-Mini, though some transmissions are better suited for the smaller Mini tires.

Their site mentions a UK workshop, anyone have any info about them ? no real reason to find out just curious who/were they are !

In reply to bdcam, you are too true, the USDM motors are down on JDM, the EG sirII has the 170HP unit, the UK models run 160, I also believe the USDM compression in lower than that of the UK and JDM cars :D

Have you ever encountered "Bullfrog" cams, or a Honda tuner by the name of "Toda"? on a recient visit to toronto, the Guys at T.N.M. motorsport were tryin to get me to buy a host of American parts as opposed to the Expensive Jap stuff :?

Martin, The GoMini site is quite interesting but the scuttlebutt on MiniMania site is that the fellow running it is a bit of a shill!. I don't personally know if this is true or not but check the site out and do some searching.

If you can afford the shipping I'll put in a plug for bdcam's frame since I have seen it first hand. I spent an afternoon with him and brainstormed many things to do with Honda/Mini's. I know he is busy building frames for his demand but he will give you the goods straight up. Send him an e-mail for info.

PS. Fill in you profile and you will get more site specific answers perhaps for where you live, etc.

Strudel: you have his email address so i can check with him please? Thought there was a problem with the steering rack on RHD Minis with his frame. Most people still won't know where Malta is. We're barely visible on the map. Unless you know about us, you probably won't find us even if you look :) As far as I know, there's one Vtec equipped Mini in the whole island. Bit difficult to find owner.

DarrenW: No actually, we're an ex Brit colony, so we're RHD like you. The English left when my bro was born, wonder why :)

I love my clubby. Wouldn't change it for anything. And anyway if i feel like changing, there's always my bro's Mini

I just bought a complete frame setup from Gomini. The guy you want to talk to is Bobby Pack. The kit is from a k series converted for b16a motor.
Bobby is very honest .It's better to call and leave your number than trying to e-mail him.He is working on a different frame now and I think it is complete. He can send you photos of both frames available.Bobby can help with any problems with installation too.(over the phone)Gomini has ads in Mini World mag so I don't think the business is going anywhere.
I hope this info has helped

I saw the new subframe on their website and that is what I'm interested in, but I will probably be going for a custom frame and honda ecu as my budget is constantly tightening :(

The UK Address is the one the Symbol Mini Co was using - this company is currently up for sale in the magazines at £25K

These are the Mickelbrough brothers if my memory serves me correct, who bought my Broadspeed GT a few years a go, Was on the front cover of Mini World, They "restored" the car, took a copy off the roof, and then sold the car to Japan.

Copies of the roof conversion were for sale @ 3.5K !

I beleive they also traded as "Downton", and converted a couple of cars a while back.

Notice how wide the tapers on the bonnet chanels are compared to Geoffs extended fronts?
