Hi, have just joined and would like to know if the standard injection system will fit when fitting the 16v XE motor?. :?:

If you have a 12" longer front end and you build your own frame, then yes you could retain it.
Personally, I'd ditch it for some carbs and get another 30 horse for it, that would also allow you to use the AMT frame and have a 2” longer front end instead!!

yeah, but by keeping it you could fit a 'power chip' as sold on ebay for a few quid and claim your extra 15-30hp

I have done this as I am fitting an LET to mine., small bulkhead mods and frame mods, all went in a ok, 200 bhp standard, bigger IC, some "crappy" chips and its an instant 280 bhp.
But they are the chips you can buy on ebay LOL

I have kept the standard bosch jetronic injection and inlet manifold on my 1.6 clubman conversion to try to keep the costs down! no probs with clearence as i made my own subframe :) .The Allspeed kit seems to keep the inlet manifold/injection too, although i am only going by the photos i have seen , I might get carbs or throttle bodies when funds allow ,but then i will need shares in Shell due to the price of unleaded round here :( ,its also fairly simple to connect to the car wiring only 6 wires i think, hope this helps

the allspeed 1.6 frame keeps it all no probs, plenty of clearence around the bulkhead too :D

RichLet, you got any photos of your Let install showing where you modified the frame and bulkhead to fit it? Sounds interesting as I know of a damaged turbo Cavalier coming up for sale soon. Did'nt think it was feasable to fit all the standard Vauxhall gear in the Mini, but if you've done it then nice one!, tell us how! What gearbox are you using, F28 or what?

Ooops mistake! i have fitted a c16 se engine which is 8v, the allspeed frame is also designed to take the 8v engine, but if you want to fit a 1.6 xe which is 16v, you are going to have problems with clearence of the standard injection manifold due to the extra head width, so a very big bulkhead box would be needed if you can get the engine high enough to clear the crossmember or fit carbs/throttlebodies hope this helps
Howie
Thanks everyone, i think carbs it is.

You pay good money for a good frame, then butcher the strongest part of it together with any strength you have in the bulk head making the whole front of the car as rigid as a bag of crisps!!
... You’re Crazy...
I for one would certainly not want to be a passenger. :P

Don't be a retard maz, i'm sorry you are hardly in a position to comment , you haven't even seen it for christs sake! Its fully triangulated back into the bulkhead, the bukhead has been reinforced and seam welded.
Fine, don't be a passenger, you would only weigh it down anyway :p
Rich
PS, you KNOW it will be quicker than yours, Half the weight, and similar power :p
