cant be the only person with this problem!!
allegro type outer cv joint as we all use , 1275gt hub assy, i have leakage of grease from around the boot as i cannot get a proper type large cable tie on as it hits the under side of the hub, so im using a completely flat stainless steel tie, but you cannot get them tight due to there design, so how have you overcome this. its a stupid little problem but bugs me, ive looked for completely flat plastic cable ties but cant see that anybody make them.
thanks karl.
with the stainless ties there is a special tool that gets them tight . its a kinda lever thing u may b able to borrow form a friendly garage
or try using 2 or 3 small cable ties ..... i knows its not ideal but it worked for me

I don't know how expensive the tool is but in the Honda world it is a thin metal tie that's bent over with a special tool. Should be able to buy one at any auto supply shop. If worst comes to worst drive it to a place that could do it for you, cost should be minimal. JS
i made sure both the cv boot and the cv where free of grease and dry where the two overlap, used the metal strap and has stayed on.

Guys,
I have the pukka flat stainless tie tool. It works superb. But I think with a bit of thought you could improvise :D
Get a piece of 1 x 1/8 inch flat steel bar. Cut a slot with junior hacksaw down the middle of it for about an inch. Slide the stainless tie end into the slot and push it up to the locking piece of the tie. Then get some long nosed pliers or similar and turn the ' tail' of the tie until it is tight. Snip off the bits that are now badly twisted
Hope this helps. When I get it back ( someones borrowed it ) I will post some pics of it.
