Driveshafts

Just wondered what driveshaft setup you guys are using. Do any of you use the 2-part drivers-side driveshaft? You know, the extra shaft across the back of the block with two equal length outer shafts? Am I making any sense? What's generally considered to be the best approach?

I was planning to weld up some shafts to get the lengths right, then get some professionally made once I know it all works right. Sound sensible?

I think all of us Vauxhall boys are using the two piece driverside driveshaft. Matt has some pictures on his main site if you need to see what it looks like. As for making up the shafts, I made up some dummy ones as you suggetsed by cutting up the Vauxhall and Metro ones and welding them together, I then had them professionally made and rated to 300+ bhp when I was happy that they worked
